Job Description
At Deliverect, our API-first platform is revolutionizing commerce by providing a connected suite of on- and off-premise solutions. We empower both the food and retail industries to expand their revenue and simplify their operations, creating seamless experiences for businesses to sell anywhere and deliver everywhere. Join us in this exciting journey, where your contributions will directly impact how businesses connect with their customers in a rapidly evolving global market.
The Product Department at Deliverect is at the forefront of the digital ordering revolution, dedicated to consistently delivering groundbreaking solutions to the global marketplace. Our team of passionate and innovative engineers, designers, and product managers architect tools that empower businesses to thrive in the evolving digital landscape, streamlining digital ordering for delivery and on-premise services. We are committed to creating user-friendly, dependable, and scalable technology that simplifies operations and enhances customer experiences, playing an integral role in the success of businesses worldwide. In our department, innovation is not just a concept; it's the driving force behind everything we do.
As the Lead Forward Deployed Engineer for North America, you will bridge technical problem-solving and software engineering by owning enterprise adoption from pre-sales architecture to deployment and go-live. In this high-autonomy role, you will lead complex customer integrations, adapt and enhance our codebase, and build the foundation for our regional FDE team. Your work will directly accelerate enterprise rollouts, safeguard platform reliability, and give our largest customers the technical confidence they need to scale.
What you will do:
- Own the technical lifecycle of customer adoption across North America, partnering with enterprise technical counterparts from pre-sales discovery and architecture design through go-live and scale.
- Architect and implement robust code solutions and bug fixes directly within Deliverect’s core products (Commerce, Restaurant, and Dispatch), primarily utilizing Python (Flask/Eve).
- Guide cross-functional GTM and Professional Services teams through Statement of Work (SOW) drafting, scoping technical feasibility, timelines, deliverables, and resource requirements.
- Design creative and resilient integration solutions for complex edge cases (such as offline kiosk ordering and failover operations) to protect customer revenue during network disruptions.
- Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to monitor system health, define alerts, and proactively improve Commerce API performance and uptime.
- Direct and mentor a team of developers to deliver customer-tailored platform enhancements while establishing best practices for regional code quality and architecture.
- Act as the senior escalation point and in-region technical authority in North American time zones for critical incidents and complex integration challenges.
- Facilitate hands-on customer onboarding, technical discovery, and interactive architecture workshops both remotely and on-site (~25% travel).
What your will bring:
- 5+ years of software development experience with Python in web environments (Flask, Eve) or related backend frameworks (Ruby, TypeScript) with an eagerness to work in Python.
- Proven track record in a customer-facing technical leadership capacity (Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or Technical Architecture), collaborating with enterprise brands and engineering counterparts.
- Deep hands-on experience designing, developing, and troubleshooting RESTful APIs and modern integration standards (JSON-RPC, SOAP/XML, Webhooks).
- Strong understanding of cloud-native environments and developer tooling, including Git, the CLI, and microservice architectures.
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability to address operational and edge-case challenges (e.g., offline modes, data sync, latency optimization) in distributed environments.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate technical tradeoffs to both developer and C-suite audiences.
- Experience with SaaS platforms supporting frequent, continuous deployment cycles in high-growth environments.
- Knowledge of NoSQL databases (particularly MongoDB) and container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes) in a cloud setup is an asset.
