Role Description The Cook role at Denny’s Canada is a full-time, on-site position based in Edmonton, AB. The Cook prepares and cooks menu items according to company recipes, portion standards, and food safety guidelines, ensuring consistent quality and presentation. This role includes setting up and maintaining kitchen stations, handling food preparation tasks, and coordinating ticket times with the service team to provide a smooth guest experience. The Cook is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area, following health and safety regulations, and supporting opening and closing kitchen procedures. The position also involves working collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house team members, adapting to peak service times, and contributing to a positive, guest-focused environment.
Qualifications
- Experience in commercial kitchens with strong skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and plate presentation.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and safe handling practices, with commitment to maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple orders, and follow standardized recipes and portion controls.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with other kitchen staff and service team members.
- Reliability in attendance and punctuality, with flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Previous experience as a line cook, prep cook, or in a similar role in the restaurant or hospitality industry is an asset.
- Basic math and reading skills to follow recipes, measure ingredients, and interpret tickets and kitchen instructions.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift, carry, and move kitchen items and equipment as required.
