Role Description The Director of Finance is a full-time, on-site role based in Mississauga, ON, responsible for overseeing the financial strategy and performance of Dhalla Group of Companies. This role includes leading budgeting and forecasting processes, managing cash flow, and ensuring timely, accurate financial reporting across multiple business units. The Director of Finance will oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, monitor key performance indicators, and provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership. Daily responsibilities include supervising finance team members, maintaining robust internal controls, liaising with external auditors and financial institutions, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations. The role also involves supporting investment decisions, evaluating business opportunities, and contributing to long-term growth planning across healthcare, hospitality, and real estate operations.
Qualifications
- Strong finance and financial planning skills, including experience developing budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial strategies.
- Proficiency in financial statements and financial reporting, with the ability to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with accounting standards.
- Advanced analytical skills, including the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide clear, actionable insights to leadership.
- Proven leadership experience managing finance teams, building collaborative relationships, and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
- Expertise in cash flow management, cost control, and profitability analysis within multi-entity or multi-sector organizations.
- Professional designation such as CPA, CFA, or equivalent, and a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field; an MBA is an asset.
- Experience with financial systems and ERP software, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with Canadian tax and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial audiences.
