Position Overview
Dilawri Group of Companies – Saskatchewan Region is currently looking for a full-time
Controller to join the accounting team. This position will be based in Regina and will oversee financial operations for an assigned number of automotive dealerships.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Full cycle accounting including month-end and year-end close processes, journal entries, invoicing, bank and general ledger reconciliations
- Month-end financial statement preparation and analysis for multiple automotive dealerships
- Accounts receivable and accounts payable management and review
- Prepare third party quarterly and year end reporting
- Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of financial information
- Support and direct junior accounting staff with daily tasks and duties
- GST, PST filing preparation
- Prepare manufacturer financial statements
- Liaison with other department managers
- Understanding of internal controls and their importance
- Expense and inventory analysis
- Year-end audits
- Set up and maintain information reports for senior management
- Process, review and analyze payroll; focus on discrepancies and taxable deductions
- Ensure all standard accounting policies, procedures and controls are consistently and accurately applied
Qualifications Required
- Minimum 5 years’ work experience in an accounting role
- University degree in Business/Accounting
- Canadian professional accounting designation (Chartered Professional Accountant) or working towards a Canadian designation is considered an asset
- Understanding of Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE)
- Experience in the automotive industry and familiarity with CDK is considered an asset
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Excel
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of accounting policies and procedures
- Experience in providing relevant and constructive feedback and guidance to junior staff
- Excellent level of communication and relationship building skills to develop strong working partnerships with team members and management
- Strong organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
- Ability to be efficient and effective while working independently and within a team
- Able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
