Original job description

Montare Construct is hiring a Project Manager to lead our construction, civil, renovation, and specialty projects from handoff through closeout and warranty. You’ll work with our Site Supervisors, Estimating, Logistics, and Finance teams to deliver jobs safely, on schedule, and on budget. Strong QA/QC experience is a must for this role.

About us

Montare Construct is part of DNM Group, a growing family of trades companies based in Sault Ste. Marie. We work on construction, civil, renovation, and specialty projects across Ontario. Our values are simple: safety, our community, and our people. You’ll see them in how we plan, how we treat our crews, and how we show up for clients.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll own projects from handoff with Estimating all the way through turnover and warranty. On a typical week, that means:

  • Leading Site Supervisors and project teams across several active jobs, with a strong presence on site
  • Building QA/QC plans, inspection points, and hold points into the project from day one, and following through until every deficiency is closed and verified
  • Keeping schedules and short-term look-aheads realistic, and clearing constraints before they hit milestones (Lean and Last Planner experience is a big plus here)
  • Managing budgets, forecasts, and change orders so margin is protected and scope changes get documented, priced, and billed
  • Setting procurement priorities, owning purchase orders, and tracking long-lead items so materials and equipment arrive when the crew needs them
  • Keeping clients, consultants, inspectors, and subcontractors aligned, and making sure commitments actually get followed through
  • Running closeout, and capturing lessons learned so the next job goes even better

You won’t be doing it alone. Site Supervisors run day-to-day crews, our Logistics team handles deliveries and purchasing coordination, and Project Coordination supports documentation and admin. Your job is to lead the plan and make the calls.

What you bring

  • 5–10 years of progressive construction experience as a PM, Superintendent, Construction Manager, QA/QC Manager, or similar
  • Hands-on QA/QC experience (this one’s a must)
  • Comfort reading drawings, specs, contracts, and schedules, and working with codes and inspections
  • Experience with project costing, forecasting, change management, procurement, and site logistics
  • Clear, professional communication, and a habit of writing things down

Nice to have: PMP, a construction or civil technology diploma, formal QA/QC training, ISO-style systems, or Lean Construction experience.

Why Montare

  • Real ownership of your projects, and leadership that wants your input on how we improve
  • A safety-first culture where leading by example actually matters
  • Regular performance conversations (every six months) so you always know where you stand and where you’re headed
  • The stability of a growing group of companies, with roots in the community
  • Benefits, vehicle/allowance, RRSP matching, EAP, staff incentive program, and much more!
