Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the organization's overall maintenance strategy.
- Provide strategic leadership across maintenance operations and multiple locations.
- Partner with the Shop Manager to establish priorities, timelines, budgets and objectives.
- Oversee preventative maintenance, fleet reliability, asset performance and downtime.
- Evaluate repair-versus-replace decisions and support long-term asset lifecycle planning.
- Develop and manage maintenance budgets, forecasts and cost controls.
- Monitor maintenance spending and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Develop and monitor maintenance KPIs, including fleet availability, downtime, repair frequency and cost per asset.
- Lead vendor and supplier relationships, including pricing, service levels and performance.
- Provide leadership and oversight of maintenance safety and compliance.
- Develop and mentor maintenance leadership, including the Shop Manager.
- Establish processes, accountability and succession plans to support future growth.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, standardization and technology.
- Provide senior leadership with regular reporting on maintenance performance, costs and opportunities.
- Build strong relationships with the maintenance and operations teams while driving accountability and change.
What You'll Bring
- 10+ years of progressive maintenance, fleet or transportation experience.
- Several years of experience in a senior maintenance or fleet leadership role.
- Strong background in transportation, asset-based logistics, commercial fleet operations, trucking or truck dealerships.
- Experience managing maintenance budgets, costs and financial performance.
- Strong understanding of preventative maintenance, fleet reliability and asset lifecycle management.
- Experience managing vendors and external service providers.
- Experience developing and monitoring maintenance KPIs and reporting.
- Strong understanding of maintenance safety and compliance.
- Proven experience leading, developing and mentoring maintenance teams.
- Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to establish timelines, priorities, budgets and accountability.
- Strategic thinker with a practical understanding of day-to-day fleet maintenance.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to lead through change while maintaining strong relationships with operational teams.
