Role Description This is a part-time, on-site Interior Designer role based in Richmond, BC. The Interior Designer will collaborate with clients, project managers, and production teams to develop interior design concepts that integrate DSG’s mouldings, wall systems, and architectural elements into residential and commercial spaces. Day-to-day tasks include space planning, preparing design proposals, selecting finishes and materials, and coordinating FF&E to align with project requirements and budget. The role involves producing or reviewing construction drawings and details, ensuring designs are feasible, code-compliant, and compatible with DSG’s manufacturing and installation processes. The Interior Designer will also support site visits, measurements, and design revisions, and may assist with presentation materials, mood boards, and design documentation for internal and client-facing use.
Qualifications
- Strong Interior Design and Space Planning skills, with the ability to create functional and aesthetically cohesive layouts.
- Knowledge of Architecture and Construction Drawings, including reading, preparing, and coordinating plans and details.
- Experience with FF&E selection and specification, including finishes, fixtures, and materials aligned with project standards.
- Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar) and basic office tools for documentation and communication.
- Diploma or degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong visual communication skills, including the ability to create presentations, mood boards, and clear design documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and ability to work on-site in collaboration with cross-functional teams and clients.
- Knowledge of building codes, materials, and construction processes; experience with architectural mouldings or exterior/interior cladding is an asset.
- Professional communication skills and a customer-focused approach; previous experience in a manufacturing or construction environment is beneficial.
