Role Description The Shift Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at Earls Kitchen + Bar in Toronto, ON. This role is responsible for overseeing daily restaurant operations during assigned shifts, ensuring smooth service, and maintaining a high standard of guest experience. The Shift Manager leads and supports front-of-house and back-of-house team members, coordinates shift schedules, and assists with training and coaching to promote consistent service and adherence to company standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring floor operations, addressing guest feedback, supporting opening and closing procedures, and upholding health, safety, and cleanliness requirements. The Shift Manager also collaborates with leadership to meet sales goals, manage labor and inventory within guidelines, and foster a positive, inclusive work environment.
Qualifications
- Experience in restaurant or hospitality management, including leading shifts, supervising teams, and supporting daily operations.
- Strong customer service and guest relations skills, with the ability to handle feedback, resolve issues, and maintain a welcoming atmosphere.
- Solid organizational and time management abilities to oversee multiple tasks, staffing needs, and service flow during busy periods.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with team members, coaching staff, and coordinating with kitchen and bar operations.
- Knowledge of basic business and operations practices such as labor management, inventory awareness, and adherence to company policies.
- Understanding of food safety, health, and workplace safety standards, with a commitment to maintaining a safe, clean environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required in a full-time restaurant leadership role.
- Previous supervisory experience in a restaurant, bar, or hospitality setting is strongly preferred; formal training or certification in hospitality or management is an asset.
