Junior Full-Stack Software Developer
About Effortless Admin
Benefits administration is complicated, and when it goes wrong, real people miss coverage they're counting on. Effortless Admin builds the platform that keeps it running smoothly for employers across Canada. We're a small team that moves fast. The code you write ships to real clients, and you'll see the difference it makes.
The role Full-time - On-site in Edmonton, AB
As a Junior Full-Stack Developer, you'll build features across our platform using React on the front end and C#/.NET on the back end. You'll work side by side with senior developers who will review your code, pair with you, and help you grow quickly.
Why you'll like working here
We're a small team, and that's a big part of what makes this role different. You'll work closely with senior developers every day, with real pairing, quick answers when you're stuck, and direct feedback on your code. Because we're small and move quickly, good ideas don't sit in a backlog for months. The features you build will ship to real clients, and you'll see the impact of your work early and often.
How we're working with AI
We're actively bringing AI into how we work, using it to help us write, review, and test code, and exploring where it can make our platform better for clients. We don't have it all figured out, and that's the point. We're learning and experimenting as a team, and we want developers who are curious about it and will help us find where it makes a real difference. You don't need to be an expert, just interested.
What you'll do
- Build responsive, easy-to-use interfaces with React and modern JavaScript
- Develop and maintain C#/.NET services that power our core platform
- Design and connect RESTful APIs between the front end and back end
- Work with SQL Server to store and manage application data
- Build reusable components and keep the app fast
- Write clean, well-tested code and take part in code reviews
- Work with our UX designers to turn designs into intuitive experiences
- Experiment with AI tools that help us build better and faster
Who we're looking for You think critically about code, including your own. You ask whether something will be easy to maintain, not just whether it works today, and you can explain your reasoning. You're also open to changing your mind as you learn, because what counts as good code keeps evolving. You're adaptable. You're comfortable picking up new tools, switching between front-end and back-end work, and learning as you go. On a small team things change quickly, and that's part of the fun. You also care about the people using what you build. You notice when a screen is confusing or a workflow takes one click too many, and you want to fix it. Our users are HR teams and employees dealing with their benefits, and making that experience feel effortless matters to us.
What you'll bring
Must have
- 1–2 years of hands-on development experience (co-op and internship work counts)
- Solid experience with JavaScript and React
- Working knowledge of C# and .NET
- A good grasp of object-oriented programming
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
- Comfort with SQL and relational databases
- Experience with Git
Nice to have
- A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with React libraries like Redux or React Query
- A good understanding of CSS
- Experience on an agile team, using tools like Asana or Jira
- Hands-on experience with AI coding tools
What we offer
- Competitive pay and a strong benefits package (we are a benefits company, after all)
- Daily mentorship, pairing, and code reviews with senior developers
- A clear path to intermediate and senior roles
- A modern stack and room to try new tools, including AI
- A team that respects work-life balance
- An on-site gym and swimming pool in our building
