Role Description The Litigation Associate will handle a range of civil and commercial litigation matters, from initial client intake and case assessment through to resolution. Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting pleadings, motions, and legal opinions, conducting legal and factual research, preparing files for hearings, and attending court and other proceedings as required. The role also involves managing communications with clients, coordinating with opposing counsel and third parties, and contributing to strategic case planning. This is a full-time, hybrid position based in the Greater Montreal Metropolitan Area, with some flexibility for work from home.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Law, with experience or interest in civil and commercial litigation and related practice areas.
- Ability to draft and argue Motions, including pleadings, applications, and other litigation documents.
- Proficient in legal Research, including case law, legislation, and secondary sources to support litigation strategy.
- Experience preparing for and conducting Depositions or examinations, including witness preparation and evidence review.
- Comfort appearing before Courts and administrative bodies, with professional courtroom demeanor and advocacy skills.
- Licensed to practice law in Quebec;
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French, both written and spoken.
- Strong analytical, drafting, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple files.
