SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced, organized, discreet, and versatile Housekeeper to oversee the upkeep, organization, and smooth day-to-day operation of several private residences located in Outremont, the Eastern Townships, and Florida.
This is a permanent, full-time position, five days per week, and may be either live-in or live-out depending on the circumstances of the successful candidate.
Cooking is an important component of this position. The Housekeeper will be responsible for planning, preparing, and cooking all three meals of the day, in addition to general housekeeping, bed-making, laundry, and the organization of the residences.
The ideal candidate enjoys cooking on a daily basis and has solid experience preparing healthy meals. They are autonomous, attentive to the employer's preferences, and capable of efficiently planning meals and provisioning.
The position also requires considerable flexibility, as responsibilities will be carried out at the employer's different residences throughout the year.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Cooking & Meal Preparation
- Plan and prepare all three daily meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- Set the table, provide meal service, and clear and clean the table following service.
- Prepare fresh, varied, balanced, and healthy meals according to the employer's tastes and preferences.
- Plan menus and organize meals for the week.
- Grocery shop and ensure the kitchen is properly provisioned.
- Keep refrigerators, pantries, and food storage areas clean, organized, and well stocked.
- Monitor food freshness and ensure proper product rotation.
- Adapt meals to the employer's needs, preferences, and schedule.
- Keep the kitchen clean and organized before, during, and after meal preparation.
- Anticipate needs to ensure efficient day-to-day meal organization.
This is not a Private Chef position. We are primarily seeking an excellent home cook who can consistently prepare high-quality, healthy meals.
Housekeeping & Residence Organization
- Perform the daily upkeep of the various areas of the residence.
- Keep living spaces clean, tidy, welcoming, and well organized.
- Perform deep cleaning as required.
- Make beds and change linens.
- Maintain bathrooms, the kitchen, and other areas used daily.
- Pay particular attention to materials, surfaces, furniture, and objects requiring specialized care.
- Keep storage areas clean and organized.
- Identify household supply needs and ensure items are replenished.
- Adapt housekeeping routines according to the occupancy of each residence.
Laundry & Linen Care
- Perform laundry and ensure the proper care of clothing and household linens.
- Sort, wash, dry, fold, and put items away.
- Iron as required.
- Change and care for bed linens and towels.
- Pay particular attention to delicate fabrics and garments.
- Keep laundry areas clean and organized.
Household Organization & Daily Support
- Help ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the residences.
- Coordinate and supervise service providers and temporary staff.
- Coordinate household logistics.
- Complete household errands and purchases as required.
- Maintain adequate supplies of everyday household products and necessities.
- Prepare the residences prior to the employer's arrival and for guests when entertaining.
- Assist with organization when transitioning between the different properties.
- Promptly report maintenance issues or situations requiring attention.
- Anticipate the employer's needs and provide discreet and efficient service.
Travel Between Residences
- The employer divides their time between residences in Outremont, the Eastern Townships, and Florida.
- The successful candidate must therefore be available and willing to work at the different properties according to the time of year and the employer's needs.
- The candidate must be comfortable travelling and capable of maintaining consistent service standards and organization from one residence to another.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Relevant experience as a Housekeeper or in a similar role within a private residence or hospitality environment.
- Must speak French or English.
- Strong healthy-cooking skills and a genuine interest in preparing meals daily.
- Excellent knowledge of housekeeping techniques.
- Good knowledge of laundry, ironing, and textile care.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
- Highly autonomous with a proactive approach.
- Ability to anticipate needs without requiring constant supervision.
- A high degree of discretion and respect for privacy and confidentiality.
- A professional, positive, and service-oriented attitude.
- Considerable flexibility and the ability to adapt to the employer's different residences and routines.
- A calm, reliable, and consistent approach.
- An understanding of the importance of invisible service, where needs are anticipated and responsibilities are carried out discreetly.
- Availability to stay and work at the employer's different residences.
- Ability to travel between Canada and the United States.
- Must hold a valid driver's licence.
- Valid passport or ability to obtain one.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Sponsorship is not available.
