Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) is seeking an adaptable, tech-savvy
HR Administrative Assistant to join our our Human Resources team for a full-time term position through August 2027.

- Commencing October 13, 2026 until August 27, 2027
- Working 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day)
- Compensation: Starting at $26.55 per hour PLUS a comprehensive benefits package starting Day 1!
- Location: Central Services Office (683 Wye Road, Sherwood Park) - a collaborative hub of 190 professionals dedicated to excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Administrative & Office Support: Serve as a welcoming point of contact by answering telephones, responding to daily queries from internal and external clients, and routing issues appropriately.
- Collaborative Team Support: Actively assist co-workers with workload management and cross-train on departmental tasks to keep office operations running smoothly. May require a flexible schedule to provide temporary coverage for the Staff Replacement Facilitator during illness or vacation (occasionally working 7am to 3pm to ensure schools have vital substitute staff coverage)
- HRIS & Documentation: Execute data entry, updates, and record management across systems like Atrieve and our Applicant Tracking System (ATS), as well as, prepare official correspondence to support OH&S, Health Recovery, Staff Replacement, Recruitment and/or HR Business Partners.
- Targeted Projects: Execute special projects as assigned by HR leadership.
Education
- Preferred: Certificate or Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, Office Management, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Minimum Required: High School Diploma plus related, recent administrative experience.
Experience
- 2+ years of administrative support or office experience, with specific exposure to HR functions or a school division environment preferred
- Minimum Required: 0 to 3 years of related administrative or HR support experience.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Preferred Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with EIPS systems such as Atrieve, SharePoint, and HRIS/ATS platforms is an asset, alongside a foundational knowledge of ATIA and POPA privacy principles.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, emerging technologies, and web-based applications.
- Experience editing professional documents and reports and inpreparing meeting agendas, minutes ,etc.
- Adaptability & Organization: Strong prioritization, multitasking, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Able to adapt and manage change effectively amidst frequent interruptions.
- Communication & Professionalism: High level of integrity, business professionalism, and discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive information. Excellent oral and written communication skills
