Role Description The Structures Superintendent is a full-time, on-site role based in Golden, BC, responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of structural construction activities on major projects. This role manages daily site operations related to structural works, including scheduling crews, supervising subcontractors, monitoring progress, and ensuring all work is completed safely, on time, and to quality specifications. The Structures Superintendent collaborates closely with project managers, engineers, and trades to interpret drawings, resolve technical issues, and implement construction methodologies that meet design intent and regulatory requirements. Daily responsibilities include conducting site inspections, enforcing health and safety standards, tracking materials and equipment, and maintaining accurate documentation such as reports and logs. The role also involves supporting stakeholder communication, contributing to risk mitigation, and continuously identifying opportunities to improve productivity and constructability on site.
Qualifications
- Strong structural construction supervision skills, including experience managing concrete, steel, and other structural systems on large-scale projects.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting structural drawings, specifications, and technical documents, with the ability to coordinate with design and engineering teams.
- Solid knowledge of construction safety standards, regulations, and best practices, with a proven record of promoting a safe work environment.
- Experience with scheduling, site planning, and resource allocation, including labor, materials, and equipment management.
- Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to direct diverse site teams, build strong relationships, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Competence using construction management tools and digital platforms (e.g., project management software, reporting tools, mobile site applications).
- Relevant experience as a Superintendent or in a similar site leadership role within heavy civil, infrastructure, or large structural projects.
- Post-secondary education in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Knowledge of local building codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements applicable to structural work in British Columbia.
