What is the opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager, Safety Audits & Certifications (SA&C), the Program Manager, SA&C, is responsible for the leadership, administration, quality assurance, and continuous improvement of Energy Safety Canada's audit and certification programs. The role provides strategic direction for program delivery, supports industry stakeholders, oversees certification integrity, and drives operational excellence through process improvement, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement.
The Program Manager serves as a subject matter expert in audit and certification operations while leading initiatives that enhance program effectiveness, customer experience, auditor performance, and industry confidence in ESC’s safety management certification programs.
What will you do:
- Strategically prioritize and lead the planning and execution of SA&C initiatives and projects, including especially those involving business and audit process optimization, digital transformation, and system enhancements.
- Oversee and provide mentorship for the delivery, quality, compliance, and consistent application of COR, SECOR, and related certification programs while resolving complex audit and certification issues.
- Provide leadership for the development and delivery of resources and educational opportunities for auditors and employers both within the confines of the SA&C department and in conjunction with other organizations within ESC such as Industry Impact and Development and Training.
- Maintain proficiency in both auditing and audit review functions through industry field visits, employer and verification audits, and audit QA review execution.Other duties as required.
- Engage with auditors, industry employers, provincial governing bodies and other certifying partners, within existing formal governance processes as well as nurturing and maintaining informal connections with these stakeholders as well.
- Liaise with the Training department to ensure the required safety management system and audit content is incorporated into courses.

What you need to succeed:
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or equivalent professional designation.
- Certificate, diploma, or post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Significant experience in occupational health and safety, safety management systems, auditing or safety program development, with knowledge and experience within provincial COR programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of OHS management-system principles and audit methodology.
- Strong understanding of Canadian OHS legislation and energy-sector safety practices.
- Demonstrated experience developing, reviewing or improving policies, procedures, standards, audit tools or program documentation.
- Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects and competing priorities.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-management skills.
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
