Business Systems Analyst (BSA) – Payments
Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Business Systems Analyst (BSA) with strong expertise in the Payments domain. The BSA will act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technology teams to deliver solutions supporting payment processing, clearing, and settlement systems.
The role will focus on requirements gathering, business process analysis, system integration, testing, and ensuring solutions align with applicable payment industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with business stakeholders to understand payment-related requirements and translate them into clear business and functional specifications.
- Analyze existing payment systems, workflows, and processes to identify gaps, inefficiencies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with development and technology teams to ensure solutions meet business requirements and applicable regulatory and industry standards.
- Support integration of payment systems with internal and external platforms, including ACH, SWIFT, Wire Transfers, and ISO 20022.
- Perform impact analysis for changes to payment regulations, standards, processes, and system functionality.
- Document business requirements, functional specifications, process flows, use cases, business rules, and system impacts.
- Work with technical teams and stakeholders to clarify requirements throughout the development lifecycle.
- Support SIT and UAT, including test scenario preparation, test execution, defect validation, and business workflow validation.
- Analyze payment workflows and support troubleshooting of functional issues and production incidents.
- Act as a Payments Subject Matter Expert (SME) and provide guidance to business and technology teams.
- Participate in process improvement and payment modernization initiatives.
- Ensure delivered solutions support operational, compliance, risk, and business objectives.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst / Business Analyst in the Payments or Banking domain.
- Strong understanding of payment processing, clearing, and settlement.
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following:
- ACH
- SWIFT
- Wire Transfers
- ISO 20022
- Strong experience in requirements gathering, functional analysis, process mapping, and business documentation.
- Experience working with both business stakeholders and technical/development teams.
- Experience supporting SIT and UAT activities.
- Strong understanding of payment workflows, interfaces, and system integrations.
- Experience performing impact analysis for system, regulatory, or payment-standard changes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced banking/financial services environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience with payment modernization or transformation initiatives.
- Knowledge of SWIFT messaging standards and ISO 20022 message types.
- Experience with payment gateways, payment hubs, or transaction processing platforms.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements affecting payment processing.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Visio, or similar requirements/process documentation tools.
