Overview
Epitec is seeking an experienced
Software Engineer (Premium Engineer 2) to join a team focused on the development of cutting-edge embedded software for next-generation infotainment systems. This role offers the opportunity to work across the full software development lifecycle, from architecture and design through testing and deployment, while solving complex challenges in embedded platforms and core system services.
This is a hybrid position requiring candidates to work onsite in
Kanata, Ontario, four days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain C/C++ services for embedded infotainment platforms.
- Design, develop, test, and support embedded software solutions.
- Investigate and resolve operating system, BSP, driver, and system-level issues reported by internal teams and end users.
- Participate in software architecture, design reviews, documentation, and validation activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Support development and testing of core platform services including file systems, graphics, networking, USB, and WiFi components.
- Contribute to automation initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
- Participate in Agile development processes and team ceremonies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience working with operating systems, kernels, drivers, BSPs, and core platform services.
- Strong proficiency in:
- C/C++
- Python
- Linux
- Embedded Software Development
- Automation and Scripting
- Experience developing and testing device drivers and Board Support Packages (BSPs).
- Strong understanding of hardware design and embedded operating system concepts.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
- Self-starter with the ability to solve complex technical problems with limited information.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Jira.
- Experience creating automated scripts and development tools.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and development environments.
What You'll Be Working On
The team is responsible for the foundational software layers that enable embedded hardware functionality, including:
- Operating systems and kernel development
- Device drivers and BSP support
- Graphics and multimedia services
- Networking, USB, and WiFi technologies
- Camera services and startup sequencing
- Critical system investigations and platform integrations
Additional Details
- Hybrid schedule: 4 days per week onsite in Kanata, ON.
- Candidates must be able to work onsite from day one.
