Job Summary
The Mill Maintenance Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of mill mechanical maintenance activities. Reporting to the Mill Maintenance Senior Supervisor, the incumbent ensures work is completed to established quality standards while meeting production, cost, and environmental targets. The role is accountable for achieving assigned safety KPIs and contributing to overall plant reliability and performance.
This position is based in Geraldton, Ontario and operates on a 14/14 rotational schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all crews complete their work in compliance with Company Safety Policies and OH&S Legislation.
- Actively participate in daily/weekly/monthly safety meetings.
- Assist with the development and implementation of an effective asset management plan.
- Work with the Mill Maintenance Superintendent to meet schedules and project specifications.
- Ensure site documentation/data is completed and submitted on time (progress reports, timesheets, coding, work logs, etc.).
- Assist with the development of the maintenance team’s technical capability to provide adequate support within the department’s areas of responsibility.
- Collaborate with Operations and Planning teams to plan and schedule work by priority.
- Act as a liaison between site crews and administration/management.
- Develop and mentor subordinates in the various maintenance groups.
- Various other duties as requested by management.
- Work with Vendors and Procurement to ensure contract agreements are being followed.
- Work towards continuous improvements, identifying issues, bottlenecks and developing plans to correct them.
- Develop, mentor, and hold team members accountable for performance, safety, and quality expectations.
- Act as the communication link between frontline crews and management.
- Work with the insurance company to ensure all requirements are being met, and improvements are being completed in a timely manner.
- Oversee major maintenance tasks, shutdown activities, and assigned projects within the Mill Maintenance Department.

- Prior progressive supervisory experience in a base metal processing plant is advantageous.
- 10+ years of experience in the maintenance of crushing equipment (Gyratory and Cone Crushers), grinding equipment (Ball Mills, High Pressure Grinding Rolls), slurry pumping and classification equipment and systems, conveyor systems, agitators, and gearboxes.
- Experience overseeing a multidisciplinary maintenance group is an asset.
- Experience with engineering documents, drawings, and projects.
- SAP experience.
