A heavily backed Canadian space launch company is developing the next generation of launch vehicle technology and building the infrastructure required to assemble, test, and ultimately fire a 725 kN liquid rocket engine.
The company is seeking hands-on Mechanical Test Technicians to support the assembly, installation, maintenance, and testing of rocket engine hardware and associated propulsion test systems. This is a practical, hardware-focused position for people who enjoy physically building, troubleshooting, inspecting, and preparing complex mechanical systems for test.
Experienced technicians are highly desirable; however, the company is also open to earlier-career candidates with less industry experience where they demonstrate a strong academic foundation, relevant technical training, and excellent hands-on mechanical capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and disassemble complex mechanical hardware, engine components, and test equipment.
- Cut, bend, route, fit, and connect tubing for fluid and gas systems.
- Install and work with mechanical fittings, fasteners, hoses, valves, regulators, and associated hardware.
- Follow controlled torque procedures and correctly torque mechanical interfaces and fittings.
- Read and work from engineering drawings, schematics, technical instructions, and assembly procedures.
- Support pressure testing, leak checking, mechanical inspection, and system verification.
- Prepare engine and test hardware for propulsion testing.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and rework mechanical hardware where required.
- Use hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, callipers, micrometres, and other precision equipment.
- Work closely with engineering and test teams while maintaining a disciplined approach to safety and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in mechanical assembly, maintenance, manufacturing, testing, or a related technical environment.
- Strong practical mechanical aptitude and confidence working directly with complex hardware.
- Experience reading engineering drawings, schematics, and technical instructions.
- Familiarity with mechanical fasteners, fittings, torque procedures, and precision measurement equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability.
- Ability to work safely and methodically around complex mechanical systems.
- Experienced technicians are preferred, but candidates with less professional experience may be considered where supported by strong mechanical/aerospace academics, relevant projects, technical training, or substantial hands-on experience.
