REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
EXECUTIVE HOTELS & RESORTS | Vancouver, British Columbia | Full-Time – Senior Leadership
Salary: $150,000–$175,000 per year, commensurate with experience
YOUR NEXT CHAPTER IN HOSPITALITY
Some hotel careers are about managing a property. This opportunity is about helping shape a portfolio.
Executive Hotels & Resorts is seeking an accomplished Regional Director of Operations to join our senior leadership team and provide operational leadership across a collection of distinctive hotels and resorts.
For more than four decades, Executive Hotels & Resorts has built, owned and operated hotels with a distinctly entrepreneurial approach to hospitality. As a privately owned Canadian hotel group, we combine the resources and experience of an established organization with the accessibility, speed and independence of an owner-operated company.
Our hotels are individual properties with their own character, markets and opportunities. We believe exceptional hospitality comes from leaders who understand their guests, know their teams and are empowered to make things better.
THE OPPORTUNITY
As Regional Director of Operations, you will work closely with hotel General Managers, corporate leadership and ownership to elevate operating performance across the Executive Hotels & Resorts portfolio.
This is not a corporate role managed from behind a desk. You will spend meaningful time in our hotels, working alongside property leadership teams, understanding each operation and helping our General Managers achieve stronger results. You will be a coach, problem solver, operator and business partner.
Your mandate extends beyond financial performance. You will help us continually improve the guest experience, service culture, property presentation, operational standards, profitability and leadership strength of our hotels.
WHAT YOU WILL LEAD
Hotel Performance
- Partner with General Managers to drive strong operating and financial performance across the portfolio.
- Review budgets, forecasts, labour productivity, departmental results and key operating metrics.
- Identify opportunities to improve revenue, control costs and increase profitability without compromising the guest experience.
- Maintain accountability for agreed objectives and successful execution.
The Guest Experience
- Champion a culture in which exceptional hospitality is everyone’s responsibility.
- Experience our hotels as our guests do – from arrival and front desk interaction to guestrooms, public spaces, food and beverage and departure.
- Monitor guest feedback, service scores and online reputation and work with hotel leadership to turn insights into action.
- Notice the details. A hotel’s reputation is built through thousands of individual interactions and operational details every day.
Leadership & Culture
- Build trusted relationships with property leadership teams while establishing clear expectations and accountability.
- Coach and mentor General Managers and department heads and help develop the next generation of Executive Hotels & Resorts leadership.
- Recognize strong performance and address underperformance decisively and constructively.
Hotel & Restaurant Integration
Food and beverage is an important part of the identity, guest experience and commercial performance of many Executive hotels.
- Support productive interaction between hotel General Managers and Executive Table Group (ETG), Executive’s restaurant operations division, where applicable.
- Ensure hotel and restaurant leadership teams are aligned on the complete guest journey, including dining, events, VIP recognition, hotel packages and cross-promotion.
- Work collaboratively with ETG leadership and third-party operators on standards, guest feedback, occupancy patterns, group business, events and opportunities to improve guest satisfaction and property economics.
- Help resolve operational friction quickly and constructively, with the objective of creating one seamless guest experience.
Operational Excellence
- Establish and maintain consistently high operating standards while respecting the individuality of each hotel.
- Conduct regular property reviews covering guest service, housekeeping, front office, food and beverage, maintenance, security, presentation and overall effectiveness.
- Partner with corporate revenue management, sales and marketing, finance, human resources, development and restaurant operations teams.
Financial & Commercial Performance
- Work with General Managers and corporate finance on annual budgets, forecasts and operating plans.
- Review hotel P&Ls and departmental performance with particular focus on labour productivity, margins, purchasing, operating expenses and flow-through.
- Partner with revenue management, sales and restaurant leadership to ensure operating strategies support broader commercial objectives.
- Challenge assumptions, identify opportunities and help General Managers think like owners.
Property Quality & Capital Planning
- Work with General Managers and ownership to identify property improvements, renovations and capital requirements.
- Help prioritize projects based on guest impact, operating requirements, competitive positioning and return on investment.
WHO YOU ARE
You are first and foremost a hotelier. You understand the rhythm of a hotel because you have lived it. You know what an excellent lobby feels like at 8:00 a.m., what a restaurant should look like before dinner service, what an effective morning meeting sounds like and what guests notice when standards begin to slip.
At the same time, you understand the business behind hospitality. You can read a P&L, challenge a forecast, understand labour productivity and have a commercially intelligent conversation with a General Manager, restaurant operator, CFO or owner.
You are equally comfortable discussing service standards with a Front Office Manager, walking guestrooms with an Executive Housekeeper, reviewing restaurant performance with an F&B leader or discussing the annual business plan with ownership.
THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING
- Significant senior leadership experience within upscale, luxury or full-service hotels and resorts.
- Previous experience as a successful Hotel General Manager, Regional/Area Operations leader or senior multi-property hotel executive.
- Approximately 10+ years of progressive hotel leadership experience, including substantial property-level responsibility.
- Demonstrated success improving hotel operating performance and guest satisfaction.
- Strong understanding of hotel financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, labour management and departmental profitability.
- Meaningful food and beverage experience and an appreciation for the role restaurants and bars play within distinctive hotels.
- Experience leading, coaching and developing General Managers and senior hotel leaders.
- Excellent judgment, communication and interpersonal skills, with a willingness to travel regularly between properties.
THE EXECUTIVE DIFFERENCE
Executive Hotels & Resorts is not a large institutional hotel company where decisions pass through layers of corporate approval. We are a privately owned organization with more than four decades of experience in hospitality, real estate and development. Our senior executives and ownership remain actively engaged in the business.
You will have access. You will have influence. And you will be expected to make a difference.
Good ideas can move quickly. Strong performance is noticed. And talented leaders have the opportunity to expand their responsibilities as the organization grows.
Because we own and operate many of our properties, we think beyond the next quarter. Decisions about people, capital investment, renovations, restaurants and guest experience are made with a long-term ownership perspective. We want our Regional Director of Operations to bring that same mindset.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Base salary of $150,000–$175,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- Extended health care and dental care.
- Disability insurance and life insurance.
- Travel throughout a distinctive portfolio of hotels and resorts.
- Direct interaction with senior executive leadership and ownership.
A CAREER WITH EXECUTIVE
We believe the best hospitality leaders still love hotels. They notice when the flowers aren’t right. They notice when the arrival experience could be warmer. They understand why a restaurant isn’t performing to its potential. They know when a General Manager needs support – and when a General Manager needs to be challenged.
They also understand that a great hotel and a great restaurant should strengthen one another. Whether the restaurant is operated by Executive Table Group or an independent third-party partner, the guest should experience one coordinated standard of hospitality.
If that describes the way you approach hotels, we would like to meet you.
EXECUTIVE HOTELS & RESORTS
For more than 40 years, Executive Hotels & Resorts has developed, owned and operated distinctive hotels and resorts in Canada and the United States. As part of the privately held Executive Group, our hospitality portfolio benefits from an integrated approach encompassing hotel operations, restaurant operations through Executive Table Group, real estate development, construction and asset ownership.
Create memorable places.
Deliver exceptional hospitality. Empower great people to lead them.
