Engineering Supervisor – Manufacturing

Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Engineering Supervisor with a strong Manufacturing Engineering background for our client, a growing manufacturing organization in Kitchener.
This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who combines strong technical expertise with proven supervisory skills. You will oversee daily production operations, lead a team, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
Working closely with the Plant Manager, you will play a key role in optimizing manufacturing processes, resolving production challenges, and fostering a positive, accountable, and safety-focused team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and develop production employees while promoting teamwork, accountability, and performance.
- Coordinate daily manufacturing activities to meet production schedules and customer delivery commitments.
- Apply manufacturing engineering principles to optimize workflows, improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
- Monitor production performance, KPIs, throughput, and operational effectiveness to identify improvement opportunities.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Ensure products meet quality standards, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Purchasing, and Shipping to resolve issues and improve plant performance.
- Manage labour allocation and resource planning to maximize productivity.
- Identify and document non-conforming materials and coordinate corrective actions with suppliers and internal teams.
- Maintain accurate production reports, KPIs, and operational documentation.
- Promote and enforce health and safety policies while maintaining a clean, organized workplace.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with employee onboarding, coaching, performance management, and disciplinary matters as required.
Qualifications:
- Strong leadership, team-building, and employee development skills with a hands-on management approach.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to lead effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong commitment to quality standards and workplace safety.
Education & Experience:
- Post-secondary education in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline is required.
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience leading production teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven success implementing process improvements that enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Experience in the window and door manufacturing industry is a strong asset.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Green Belt, or equivalent continuous improvement certification is an asset.
