TEACH MUSIC. BUILD YOUR CAREER. GROW WITH FMA.
Join Familiar Music Academy
At Familiar Music Academy (FMA), we believe great music teachers should have the
freedom to teach, perform, create, and grow as musicians.
We’re building a modern music academy for students and families and we’re looking for
professional, university- and conservatory-trained musicians and educators who
want to be part of it.
WHY TEACH AT FMA?
Competitive Pay
Instructors start at $25/hour for in-studio lessons and $30/hour for in-home
lessons, providing very competitive compensation when compared within the other
schools in the regional market.
Teach Your Way
Contrary to traditional conservatory curriculum, FMA's flexible curriculum allows
teachers to play into their own strengths and bring their own personality, experience,
and teaching style to every lesson. FMA also prides itself on providing structure,
direction, and consistency to all our teachers and students.
A Curriculum Built for Real Musicians
FMA’s curriculum is built around our Six Pillars of Music Education:
- Technique
- Theory & Harmony
- Musicianship
- Creative Studies
- Repertoire
- Performance Studies
Students aren't simply taught to play songs. They develop the skills to understand,
create, perform, and communicate through music.
KEEP PERFORMING. KEEP CREATING.
FMA is led by real working musicians and music professionals who understand that
teaching and performing can and should exist together.
We encourage our instructors to continue pursuing their own performance careers,
creative projects, and professional development alongside teaching.
Your experience as a performer makes you a better educator. And your experience as
an educator makes you a better musician.
We also actively seek paid performance opportunities for our instructors, alongside
performance opportunities for our students.
