Summary
We are seeking a highly analytical and technically skilled professional to join our team as a Senior Insurance Solutions & Financial Modeling Analyst. This unique role combines elements of financial analysis, insurance product expertise, actuarial modeling, and strategic solution development.
Working closely with Sales, Underwriting, Operations, and Leadership, you will design and evaluate customized life insurance strategies for high-net-worth individuals, incorporated professionals, entrepreneurs, and business owners. You will be responsible for building sophisticated financial models, analyzing insurance product performance, developing innovative insurance-based planning solutions, and serving as an internal subject matter expert on life insurance products and carrier offerings.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of Canadian life insurance products, financial modeling, taxation concepts, and insurance illustration software. Candidates with CPA, actuarial, pricing, valuation, or insurance product development experience will be highly regarded.
Role Overview
Your role will include:
Financial Modeling & Analytics
- Develop complex financial and insurance-based models to evaluate and compare life insurance strategies and product structures.
- Build customized illustrations, projections, and case analyses to support advanced client planning initiatives.
- Analyze policy performance under various scenarios, assumptions, and economic environments.
- Develop and maintain model assumptions, valuation methodologies, and sensitivity analyses.
- Create reporting tools, dashboards, and analytical frameworks to support strategic decision-making.
Insurance Product Expertise
- Serve as an internal subject matter expert on life insurance products, policy structures, and carrier offerings.
- Assess and compare competing insurance solutions across multiple insurers.
- Support the evaluation of new product launches, market trends, and carrier changes.
- Assist in the development of innovative insurance-based planning strategies for affluent and business-owner clients.
Solution Development & Research
- Collaborate with Sales and Operations teams to develop customized client solutions.
- Conduct research on insurance products, taxation, and advanced planning concepts.
- Participate in the creation of new insurance structures and proprietary planning strategies.
- Evaluate existing solutions to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
Policy Review & In-Force Analysis
- Review existing insurance portfolios and provide recommendations regarding policy performance and optimization opportunities.
- Analyze in-force policies against original projections and objectives.
- Provide technical support related to policy mechanics, funding structures, and carrier-specific features.
Governance & Risk Management
- Ensure modeling methodologies are accurate, reasonable, and consistently applied.
- Maintain documentation supporting modeling assumptions and analytical outputs.
- Support compliance with applicable insurance, accounting, and actuarial standards where appropriate.
- Assist with carrier due diligence and product governance initiatives.
Required Skills or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Economics, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of Canadian life insurance products and policy structures.
- Advanced financial modeling and analytical capabilities.
- Exceptional Microsoft Excel skills, including advanced formulas, scenario analysis, and model development.
- Experience using life insurance illustration software and carrier-specific quoting platforms.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred
- CPA designation (CPA Canada) strongly preferred.
- ASA, ACIA, FCIA, CFA, or progress toward professional designation is considered an asset.
- Experience in insurance pricing, actuarial valuation, product development, or financial reporting.
- Experience with an insurance carrier, reinsurer, MGA, consulting firm, or advanced planning team.
- Knowledge of Canadian tax concepts related to insurance and wealth planning.
- Exposure to U.S. life insurance products, cross-border planning, or U.S. insurance markets is an asset.
- Experience supporting high-net-worth, professional, and business-owner client segments.
Salary and Benefits
- $110,000 – $130,000 base salary, with potential bonus based on individual performance
