Role Description The Assistant Manager role at Foot Locker in Laval, QC is a full-time, on-site position responsible for supporting the Store Manager in daily store operations. This role oversees sales floor activities, guides team members to meet sales goals, and helps ensure an exceptional customer experience through product knowledge, service, and store presentation. The Assistant Manager assists with scheduling, training, and coaching associates, reinforcing company policies and performance standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing inventory processes, visual merchandising, and maintaining store cleanliness and organization. The role also supports opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and compliance with company guidelines, while promoting a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented work environment.
Qualifications
- Retail leadership and team management skills, including experience supervising staff, coaching performance, and supporting hiring and onboarding.
- Customer service and sales skills, with the ability to build relationships, drive sales, and deliver engaging, knowledgeable service to diverse customers.
- Operational and organizational skills, such as handling cash, managing inventory, following procedures, and maintaining store standards.
- Communication and interpersonal skills, including clear verbal and written communication, conflict resolution, and collaboration with team members and leadership.
- Basic business and analytical skills, including understanding sales targets, KPIs, and using data or reports to guide decisions.
- Strong interest in sneakers, athletic footwear, and sport culture, with the ability to learn and share product knowledge.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required in a retail environment.
- Previous retail or customer-facing experience; prior experience in a supervisory or assistant manager role is an asset.
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in business, retail management, or a related field is an advantage.
