Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Entry-Level Woodworking CNC Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will learn to set up, operate, and maintain CNC routers and machinery to fabricate high-quality wooden fixtures.
This is an entry-level position perfect for someone with a strong work ethic, a passion for woodworking, and a desire to build a career in modern manufacturing. We provide comprehensive on-the-job training covering machine operation, tooling strategies, and basic software navigation.
You’ll play an important role in producing high-quality wood components while developing valuable technical skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Operation: Load pre-programmed G-code files, set machine offsets, and operate CNC routers.
- Material Setup: Select and secure MDF to the machine bed using vacuum work holding methods.
- Tooling Management: Install appropriate CNC router bits (e.g., compression spirals, ball nose, V-carve) into collets and verify tool lengths.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished parts against blueprints, templates, or specifications using measuring tools like calipers and tape measures to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Post-Processing: Perform basic finishing tasks on machined parts, including deburring, manual sanding, and edge banding.
- Routine Maintenance: Clean and lubricate machines daily, clear wood chips and sawdust, and monitor vacuum and fluid levels.
- Safety Adherence: Strictly follow all shop safety protocols, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Qualifications & Skills
We’re looking for someone who is eager to learn, takes pride in their work, and is committed to producing quality results.
- Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Technical or vocational coursework in woodworking or machining is a plus.
- Experience: 0–3 years of manufacturing or shop experience. Prior exposure to manual woodworking tools or basic shop math is highly valued.
- Technical Aptitude: Ability to read work orders, or digital blueprints.
- Computer Literacy: Basic comfort using computers to navigate files and interface with machine software.
- Attention to Detail: Precision-oriented mindset required to spot cutting errors or material defects before they ruin a run.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and lean over machinery for the duration of an 8-to-10 hour shift.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull wood panels or raw materials weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg)
- Comfortable working in a standard manufacturing environment that involves dust, noise, and mechanical equipment.
Work Environment
- Full-time, in-person position in a manufacturing facility.
- Fast-paced, high-volume production environment where safety, quality, and efficiency matter.
- Flexibility to work day or night shifts based on operational requirements.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
