About FVSP
Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry (FVSP) is a well-established, family-owned poultry company with over 50 years of history in British Columbia. Unlike a typical distributor, we manage the full process - from farm production and processing to distribution and sales - serving restaurants, retailers, and food service customers across the Lower Mainland.
We take pride in a friendly, supportive, and team-oriented work environment where every team member is valued and plays a meaningful role in our day-to-day success. If you enjoy working with food, building relationships, and being part of a close-knit team - this is the place for you.
The Role
Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry is seeking an experienced and dedicated FSQA Coordinator who is responsible for owning, maintaining, and improving the programs that drive food safety and quality across the organization. A role that demands a detail-oriented, self-driven individual who thrives with autonomy and takes genuine pride in their work.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and maintain food safety and quality assurance programs in compliance with HACCP, GMP, and BC Provincial Meat Program standards across all business units.
- Audit oversight and readiness: lead planning, scheduling, and preparation for all third-party and regulatory audits (HACCP, Costco, GMP, animal welfare); ensure documentation, corrective actions, and staff are audit-ready on an ongoing basis.
- Conduct periodic program-level audits of flood QA/QC execution
- Serve as the primary point of contact for on-site provincial inspectors, conducting regular check-ins and maintaining open communication on any concerns.
- Manage the sanitation program, including coordination with the sanitation contractor and chemical representatives.
- Develop, review, and maintain SOPs production-wide, ensuring annual reviews and training documentation
- Oversee the packaging grading program and related staff training.
- Design and deliver food safety training materials for staff at all levels.
- Review FSQA documentation and floor records for completeness and trends; report to leadership on program performance and improvement areas.
- Oversee required testing programs (shelf-life, water retention, microbial, environmental monitoring, water testing), reviewing results and directing follow-up.
- Oversee product labeling compliance.
- Manage pest control programs across all sites.
- Receive, investigate, and resolve customer complaints tied to food safety/quality; identify root cause and coordinate corrective action across departments.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Processing, Distribution, Hatchery, and Farm Operations.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within the FSQA program.
What We're Looking For
- Post-secondary education in Food Science, Agriculture, Biology, or a related field preferred
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or a related role within a food production environment
- Working knowledge of HACCP, and GMP requirements
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to mentor and develop staff
- Highly organized with strong documentation and reporting capabilities
- Comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced production environment
