Role Overview
The Senior Logistics Operations Specialist will join a team of approximately 10 Logistics Operators responsible for the day-to-day execution of this North American logistics operations.
The ideal candidate has strong operational experience across drayage, LTL/FTL transportation, 3PL warehousing, cross-border logistics, and carrier/vendor management, with particular familiarity with the U.S. logistics market.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring shipments are executed accurately and efficiently, exceptions are resolved quickly, customers and vendors receive timely communication, and assists the operations team to consistently meets service-level expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Operations Management
- Supports the Operations Manager in establishing clear operational standards, workflows, KPIs, and accountability across the team.
- Supports the Operations Manager with monitoring daily workload, staffing, priorities, and operational performance.
- Ensure operators have the tools, information, and processes required to execute shipments effectively.
- Assist with training and developing team members on logistics processes, systems, customer requirements, and best practices.
Transportation & Freight Operations
- Day-to-day execution of domestic and cross-border freight movements.
- Coordinate drayage operations, including container pickup, delivery appointments, terminal coordination, chassis availability, demurrage/detention issues, and port/rail-related exceptions.
- Manage LTL and FTL shipments, including carrier scheduling, tendering, pickup and delivery coordination, tracking, and exception management.
- Coordinate with carriers, brokers, warehouses, terminals, drivers, and other logistics partners.
- Resolve operational issues including missed pickups, delays, appointment problems, capacity constraints, damages, OS&D, and documentation issues.
- Ensure shipments are executed according to customer requirements, service levels, and agreed operating procedures.
3PL Warehouse Operations
- Coordinate with 3PL warehouse partners on inbound receiving, outbound fulfillment, inventory movement, cross-docking, consolidation, and shipment preparation.
- Communicate between warehouses, transportation providers, customers, and internal operations teams.
- Identify warehouse bottlenecks and support the implementation of process improvements.
- Ensure accurate shipment documentation and system updates throughout the warehouse and transportation lifecycle.
Cross-Border Logistics
- Support the execution of shipments moving between Canada, the United States, and other international markets.
- Coordinate closely with customs brokers, carriers, warehouses, and other service providers.
- Ensure required documentation and shipment information are complete and accurate.
- Understand common operational challenges associated with cross-border freight and proactively manage exceptions.
- Develop strong relationships with U.S. and Canadian logistics partners.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, freight forwarding, 3PL, or supply chain operations.
- Proven leadership qualities.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of drayage, LTL, and FTL transportation.
- Experience working with 3PL warehouse operations.
- Strong understanding of transportation and logistics operations in the United States.
- Experience working with carriers, brokers, warehouses, terminals, and other logistics service providers.
- Strong understanding of shipment tracking, appointment management, exception handling, and operational escalation.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluent Mandarin and English, both verbally and in writing.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with changing priorities.
- Strong sense of ownership and urgency.
