Frontier has extensive experience custom-building chillers for the food and industrial sectors, as well as designing and installing geothermal systems. Role Description This is a full-time position : Refrigeration & HVAC technicians (Level 3 & 4) based in Winnipeg, MB. The position involves installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems. Day-to-day tasks include troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring systems operate efficiently and safely in accordance with industry standards and local regulations. The role also includes reading and interpreting technical drawings and service manuals, documenting work performed, and collaborating with team members and customers to plan and complete projects. The right technician will be expected to respond to service calls, support project installations such as chillers and geothermal systems, and uphold Frontier’s commitment to reliable, high-quality
service.Qualifications
- Strong skills in refrigeration system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, including commercial and specialized medical/laboratory equipment.
- Competence in HVAC system service, diagnostics, and repair, including air-handling units, chillers, walk in coolers and boilers.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals, and to use diagnostic tools and measurement instruments effectively.
- Knowledge of relevant safety standards, building codes, and environmental regulations related to refrigeration and HVAC work.
- Valid Red Seal or provincial journeyperson certification in Refrigeration and/or HVAC (Level 3 & 4 or equivalent experience).
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a service team.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites within Manitoba.
- Physical ability to perform field work, including lifting equipment, working in varying temperatures, and using ladders or confined spaces safely.
- Willingness to participate in after-hours or on-call service rotation as required.
