OverviewQuickBond is seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President, Surety to support the continued growth, profitability, and long-term success of the business. This role has been established as part of QuickBond’ s succession planning strategy. The successful candidate will work closely with the current Branch Leader through a structured transition, gaining valuable insight into the leadership, operational, financial, and market responsibilities associated with the role. Through mentorship, collaboration, and increasing responsibility over time, the successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting the continued growth, profitability, and long-term success of the business. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain broad exposure to the leadership and management of a specialized surety business while contributing to its continued success.
How you'll make an impactAs Vice President, Surety, you will play a key leadership role in the overall performance of the business, including profitability, business growth, portfolio quality, risk management, client selection, market relationships, operational excellence, and team development. You will work closely with the Branch Leader to support strategic initiatives while assuming increasing responsibility over time. This role requires strong business acumen, sound financial and underwriting judgment, and a relationship-focused approach. Success depends on the ability to balance growth opportunities with disciplined risk management, make informed decisions regarding client selection and retention, and foster a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous learning.
Leadership & Team Development
• Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of surety professionals.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and exceptional client service.
• Provide technical guidance and support on complex surety matters.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, employee development, succession planning, and performance management initiatives.
• Encourage professional growth and knowledge sharing across the team.
• Create an environment where employees are empowered to achieve their full potential and contribute to business success.
Client & Market Relationship Management
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with contractors, clients, brokers, and surety markets.
• Act as a trusted advisor by providing strategic guidance and tailored solutions.
• Strengthening key market relationships to support client growth and business objectives.
• Support client retention and identify opportunities to expand existing relationships.
• Representing QuickBond within the construction, surety, and business communities.
• Maintain QuickBond’ s reputation as a responsive, knowledgeable, and trusted surety partner.
Portfolio Management & Risk Leadership
• Evaluate prospective and existing clients to ensure alignment with QuickBond’ s underwriting philosophy, risk appetite, and business objectives.
• Exercise sound judgment when accepting, retaining, and managing higher-risk surety accounts.
• Review financial statements, credit reports, banking information, work-on-hand schedules, and other financial information to assess risk and bonding capacity.
• Balance growth opportunities with disciplined underwriting, credit, and risk management practices.
• Monitor portfolio performance and proactively address emerging risks.
• Partner with surety markets to develop solutions that support both client success and portfolio quality.
• Ensure strong decision-making practices that protect the long-term sustainability and profitability of the business.
Business Development & Financial Management
• Drive profitable growth through client retention, referrals, and new business opportunities.
• Contribute to the development and execution of business plans and growth strategies.
• Assume increasing accountability for the profitability, growth, and overall performance of the business.
• Monitor key performance indicators and implement strategies to improve results.
• Maintain oversight of accounts receivable and collection activities, ensuring timely payment and effective management of outstanding balances.
• Work proactively with clients and internal stakeholders to resolve collection concerns and minimize credit risk.
• Identify market opportunities and industry trends that support sustainable growth.
Operational Excellence
• Ensure efficient, effective, and compliant operations.
• Maintain adherence to company policies, procedures, and underwriting standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, service delivery, and operational efficiency.
• Promote a culture of accountability and prudent business decision-making.
• Support strategic initiatives that contribute to the continued success and evolution of QuickBond.
About you- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience within the surety industry.
- Strong knowledge of contract surety, commercial surety, financial statement analysis, credit assessment, and risk management.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with a proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop employees.
- Experience managing accounts receivable, collections, and client credit matters.
- Strong understanding of portfolio management, profitability, and business performance drivers.
- Proven ability to make sound business decisions while balancing growth opportunities and risk.
- Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and business development skills.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong organizational, financial, and strategic planning capabilities.
- CIP, CAIB, CPA, or other relevant professional designation is considered an asset.
