Office Location: 555 Richmond Street West, Toronto, ON
Working Environment: First six weeks will be 100% in office. Work-from-home flexibility up to 7 days each month following the initial six week training period.
Working hours: Normal business hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, with a one-hour lunch break between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

With the growth of the business, combined with the enhanced reporting demands of being a part of a multinational organization, Generis has a need to strengthen the capacity of the finance department. The Finance Lead will be responsible for ensuring the management of many of the day-to-day tasks within the Finance Department and play a key role in closing the books every month, in compliance with the appropriate internal control frameworks.
Skills and Qualifications
- CPA designation strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proven ability to manage full-cycle accounting and FP&A.
- Strong leadership, mentorship, and team development skills.
- Excellent communication skills; comfortable presenting to senior executives and the Board.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, QuickBooks, Salesforce, Google Drive, and FP&A tools
- (Datarails, Power BI).
- High integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strategic thinker with hands-on execution ability.
Responsibilities
Management Reporting & Analysis (25%)
- Own the preparation of all management reporting globally, for North American and Europe.
- This includes all the weekly sales reports, monthly YoY reports, daily sales, and sales scorecards.
- Prepare the monthly financial management report in a timely basis for management review ensuring its accuracy.
- Preparation of ad hoc financial reports and information as needed by business leaders.
- Ensure that sales databases in QuickBooks and Salesforce are maintained accurately.
- Accountable to ensure all sales and payment ledgers are maintained accurately.
Payroll & People Management (25%)
- Lead the preparation of payroll for North America and Europe.
- Calculate and review all commissions, bonuses, and SPIFs on a monthly & quarterly basis.
- Update bonus worksheets for any new schemes implemented.
- Ensure new employees are added to all HR systems, and that terminated employees are removed properly, and all paperwork is filed accurately.
- Preparation of employee promotion, termination and release documents according to ESA requirements.
- Oversee the management of the benefits program.
- Lead Generis’ participation in the global Rippling migration.
Financial Reporting & Revenue Accounting (20%)
- Lead Generis process for Revenue Accounting, ensuring that all revenue entries are booked in a timely basis, and that all event revenues are fully reconciled.
- Prepare and review month-end journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, and other required close entries.
- Prepare and review monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations as required.
- Manage the team & month-end close timeline, coordinating deadlines and deliverables to ensure a smooth and timely close.
- Designing the workflow to ensure the monthly completion of financial statements, ensuring that they are prepared in accordance with GAAP, and all Generis and Emerald reporting policies, and that the journal entry for Emerald upload is ready by workday 4.
Finance Technology & Process Optimization (10%)
- Champion automation and integration of finance systems (Datarails, QuickBooks, Salesforce, Rippling, Invoiced)
- Support system implementations.
- Drive enhancements in reporting, commission calculation, and payment architecture.
- Collaborate with IT to future-proof finance technology infrastructure.
Accounts Payable & Vendor Management (10%)
- Oversee AP processes, ensuring timely vendor payments and strong supplier relationships.
- Operations finance analysis, reviewing and analyzing key operations metrics, event contracts and invoices
Accounts Receivable (5%)
- Oversee AR processes, ensuring provisions remain below 3%.
- Resolve any client issues with payments and invoicing in a timely fashion.
- Partner with Sales leadership to manage complex client negotiations and contract compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement in invoicing technology and revenue recognition processes.
