No Experience Necessary
We provide paid, hands-on training in packing, unpacking, communication, and senior-sensitive support. If you bring the right attitude, we’ll teach you the rest.
What You’ll Do
- Meet the Genie team at the resident’s home (vehicle required)
- Pack entire homes with care, efficiency, and respect
- Sort items into categories (move, donate, dispose)
- Wrap fragile and sentimental items such as glassware, collectibles, and heirlooms
- Label boxes clearly and accurately for moving day coordination
- Track basic inventory of household items and boxes packed
- Photograph pre-existing damage to furniture or walls as part of job documentation
- Perform light lifting and careful packing of clothing, kitchenware, and décor
- Unpack and thoughtfully set up residents’ new suites or apartments
- Communicate compassionately and respectfully with senior clients and their families
- Work independently when pre-packing homes in advance of move day
- Collaborate with movers and team leads to ensure nothing is left behind or mishandled
Availability Expectations
- Typical job length: 4 to 8 hours per job
- Jobs scheduled Monday–Friday
- Daytime hours only
- Work is scheduled based on client move needs (not fixed daily shifts)
- Ability to work in different locations (Mississauga, Oakville, Etobicoke, GTA)
What You Bring
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be fluent in English to communicate with our clients
- Access to a vehicle to meet the Genie team on Pack & Unpack days
- Physically capable of lifting and carrying light to moderate weight boxes
- Comfortable being on your feet for extended periods
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Naturally empathetic and patient when interacting with seniors
- Fast but careful - able to work efficiently without cutting corners
- Detail-oriented, organized, and committed to doing things right
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or on a team
- Experience in packing, caregiving, hospitality, or customer-facing roles is an asset
- Must be willing to complete a pre-employment background check - Genie reimburses the cost
Equipment Use
- Packing materials, labels, markers, and organizational tools
- Ability to learn Genie’s packing standards and techniques
- Use of Genie-provided tools/equipment as needed
Transportation Expectations
- Meet the team at a central location or the client’s home
- Travel with the team when required
- Have reliable personal transportation
