GFL is looking for a full-time Operations Supervisor (Nights) to help support our operations in Hamilton, ON. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for Reporting directly to the Branch Manager, the Operations Supervisor is responsible for creating a zero-harm environment, maintaining efficient day-to-day operations, and for the effective supervision of operators.
Key Responsibilities:
· Ensure on-site operations are conducted in accordance with corporate policies and procedures, within permit conditions and to customer specifications with a significant focus on health and safety
· Supervise daily operations and provide leadership to the operating team
· Lead, motivate and develop direct reports utilizing Annual Performance Reviews, Job Task Observations and Hazard Assessments to reinforce or correct specific behaviors
· Evaluate and prioritize incoming work notifications and ensure that all scheduled work is completed in the allocated time
· Maintain and implement facility standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
· Identify and recommend continuous improvements to processes and procedures
· Review and recommend maintenance, repair and operating spare requirements and stocking levels
· Troubleshoot technical issues and identify root causes of equipment failures in order to develop corrective actions and to avoid recurrence
· Help to develop production and delivery schedules while maintaining standard costs and managing inventory
· Take a leading role in safety, maintenance and housekeeping in accordance with company and regulatory requirements
· Report all incidents, safety infractions, non-compliance issues and participate in the investigation and development of corrective actions
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies
· Post-secondary education in an Technical, Environmental or Chemical program
· Minimum of 3-5 years in a supervisory capacity is required
· Related operational experience preferred with knowledge of waste management and environmental services
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for collaboration with cross-functional teams
· Knowledge of production management processes, manufacturing equipment and preventative maintenance principles
· Ability to develop safe operating procedures
· Computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.
· Proven organization, time management and problem solving skills
· Willingness to learn and develop new skills and expand knowledge through duties assigned by the Operations Manager
· Ability to work evenings and/or weekends, if required
