Position Summary
The Class 3/1 Driver will be relied upon to visit various client sites to collect and transport hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials. As a professional driver with a safe driving record, you will utilize TDG knowledge and experience to assist with labeling containers and preparing transport documentation. The chosen individual will perform this diverse range of activities with a focus on safety, professionalism, and teamwork.
Key Accountabilities
- Safely operate all required equipment.
- Professionally represent GFL on all client sites and look for ways to expand services.
- Ensure all assigned equipment is properly loaded and maintained.
- Keep accurate drivers’ logs as required to document mileage, hours and material hauled.
- Communicate effectively with a team of qualified professionals.
- Participate in safety meetings, last minute risk assessments and job hazard assessments.
- Identify and classify all types of hazardous waste.
- Handle drum dollies and pallet jacks for the transportation and loading of materials.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements
- Valid Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Brakes and a clean Commercial Driving Abstract; Class 1 Driver’s License would be an asset.
- Must be able to operate vehicles with a manual transmission.
- Valid safety tickets such as First Aid/CPR, Construction Safety Training (CSTS), Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) are considered an asset.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques.
- Ability to work safely and independently.
- High level of personal integrity.
- Strong work ethic.
- Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors.
- Manual dexterity, ability to lift 75+ lbs. required.
