Role Description The Optometrist will provide full-scope eye care services, including comprehensive eye examinations, vision assessments, and diagnosis and management of ocular conditions. Daily responsibilities include prescribing glasses and contact lenses, co-managing surgical cases with ophthalmologists, and documenting patient encounters accurately in clinical records. The Optometrist will educate patients on eye health, treatment options, and preventive care, while collaborating with support staff to ensure efficient clinic flow. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Georgetown, ON, requiring consistent in-person patient care and participation in the day-to-day operations of the practice.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution and eligibility for licensure as an Optometrist in Ontario.
- Demonstrated experience performing comprehensive eye exams, prescribing corrective lenses, and managing common ocular conditions.
- Strong patient communication skills, including the ability to explain clinical findings, treatment plans, and preventive care in clear, accessible language.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice, continuing professional education, and staying current with advances in optometry and vision care.
- Ability to work collaboratively with clinic staff, maintain accurate clinical documentation, and contribute to a respectful, inclusive, and team-oriented work environment.
- Comfort working in a busy clinical setting, with strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with electronic medical records and diagnostic equipment (e.g., autorefractors, tonometers, retinal imaging) is an asset.
