Java Developer
Location: Montréal, Quebec, Canada (Hybrid)

Salary Range: CAD $100,000 to $105,000 per annum + benefits
About the Role
We are an enterprise application development team seeking an experienced Java Developer. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of enterprise-grade backend applications and distributed systems. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance software solutions within a large-scale Agile development environment. This is a hybrid position that requires regular onsite collaboration three days per week in Montréal from Day 1.
What You Will Do
Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using Core Java and Spring Boot.
Build and support Microservices-based architectures and REST/SOAP APIs.
Develop multi-threaded and concurrent applications with optimized synchronization handling.
Integrate messaging platforms such as Kafka, JMS, and IBM MQ.
Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database interactions.
Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Support CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Maven, Bamboo, Git, and TeamCity.
Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.
Ensure adherence to coding standards, security protocols, and performance optimization practices.
Must-Have Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
A minimum of 7 years of experience in enterprise Java development is necessary.
Strong hands-on experience with Core Java (Java 8 or higher) and Spring Boot is mandatory.
Candidates must have experience with Microservices Architecture, REST and SOAP Web Services, and SQL and relational databases.
Experience with messaging systems including Kafka, JMS, or IBM MQ is required.
A strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), multi-threading, and concurrency and synchronization is required.
Candidates must be local to Montréal or within commuting distance, and willing to work onsite three days per week.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada, as no visa sponsorship is available.
Candidates must be available for a mandatory in-person final interview in Downtown Montréal.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Azure cloud services is preferred.
Knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL performance tuning and familiarity with Splunk monitoring and logging tools is advantageous.
Experience working within enterprise-scale distributed systems is a plus.
Prior experience in large consulting or enterprise IT environments is preferred.
Exposure to financial services or highly regulated industries is preferred.
