Technical Sales Engineer – Custom Air Handling Units

Reports To: Senior Engineering Sales Associate
Employment Type: Full-Time, Onsite
Hours: Flexible work hours; telecommuting encouraged
Salary: $55,000–$65,000 per year, based on experience
About the Role
The Technical Sales Engineer – Custom Air Handling Units is an inside sales and business development role at the center of our air handling business. You'll prepare technical proposals and costing estimates for custom AHUs and manage each project through its full cycle, from inception to building completion. Working closely with consulting engineers, contractors, owners/developers, and facility managers, you'll help win new work and deliver quality solutions on prestigious commercial, institutional, and high-rise residential projects.
What Will You Do?
- Create technical proposals and costing estimates for custom air handling units.
- Review project specifications and drawings to select and size equipment that meets design requirements.
- Manage the full project cycle, from inception and quotation through submittals, order, delivery, and building completion.
- Develop new business and grow relationships with consulting engineers, contractors, owners/developers, and facility managers.
- Serve as the technical point of contact for customers, answering questions and resolving issues throughout the project.
- Coordinate with manufacturers, including Nortek Air Solutions, on pricing, selections, and lead times.
- Follow up on quotes, track opportunities, and keep project records up to date.
What Do You Bring?
- Air handling unit (AHU) sales experience is a must.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, with a relevant engineering background.
- Professional accreditation (e.g., P.Eng./PEO, CET, OACETT).
- Effective and careful communicator with a strong command of written and spoken English.
- Ability to prepare accurate, well-organized technical proposals and cost estimates.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects from start to finish.
- Pre-existing relationships with consulting engineers, contractors, owners/developers, and facility managers are a strong asset.
- Collaborative team player who works well across sales, operations, and manufacturer partners.
