The organization is currently looking for a Facilities and Maintenance Lead for its Abbotsford, BC location.
The new hire will be responsible for the overall maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of the company’s facilities, manufacturing equipment, service shops, buildings, and grounds. This position ensures that all assets are maintained in a safe, reliable, and cost-effective manner to support uninterrupted production and service operations.
The position leads preventive and predictive maintenance programs, manages maintenance personnel and contractors, oversees capital improvement projects, and ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Facilities & Building Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and functionality of company facilities, including buildings, offices, production areas, warehouses, service bays, and related infrastructure such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, compressed air, fire protection, and security systems.
- Equipment Maintenance: Develop and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs for manufacturing and service equipment. Coordinate inspections, repairs, troubleshooting, upgrades, and equipment history to minimize downtime and maintain operational reliability.
- Operational Support: Prioritize and coordinate maintenance activities based on operational requirements and business impact. Respond to emergency repairs and ensure minimal disruption to production and service operations.
- Contractor & Vendor Management: Source, coordinate, and supervise external contractors and service providers. Obtain and evaluate quotations, ensure compliance with company safety requirements, and oversee the quality and completion of contracted work.
- Health & Safety: Ensure maintenance activities comply with WorkSafeBC requirements, company safety policies, and applicable permit requirements. Identify facility and equipment hazards and coordinate appropriate corrective actions and safety initiatives.
- Budget & Asset Management: Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget, monitor expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and recommend capital investments, equipment replacements, and facility improvements. Maintain accurate asset, equipment, spare parts, and maintenance records.
- Continuous Improvement & Quality: Establish maintenance standards, KPIs, and reporting processes to improve preventive maintenance compliance, response times, equipment reliability, and overall facility condition. Support ISO requirements, maintain the integrity of the Quality Management System (QMS), and report to Senior Management on QMS performance and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Trade certification or technical education in maintenance, facilities, mechanical, electrical, or a related field is preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive maintenance experience within a manufacturing, transportation, industrial, or service environment.
- 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience, with the ability to coordinate internal teams and external contractors. Candidates without formal leadership experience will also be considered.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, plumbing, preventive maintenance, and general facilities management.
- Experience managing contractors, maintenance projects, budgets, and service providers.
- Working knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and WorkSafeBC requirements.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and with external partners.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, ERP, and other relevant maintenance or business systems.
- High level of accountability, ownership, professionalism, and attention to quality and safety.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment and safely perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting.
- Ability to regularly lift or move up to 50 lbs and occasionally handle heavier materials with appropriate equipment or assistance.

Compensation:
- $40-45 per hour.
