Role Description The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operational performance, and guest experience of an IHG-branded hotel in Toronto, ON. This full-time, on-site role oversees daily hotel operations, including front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, and maintenance, ensuring brand standards and service excellence are consistently met. The General Manager leads, coaches, and develops hotel teams, manages budgets and financial reporting, and drives revenue through effective sales, marketing, and revenue management strategies. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring guest satisfaction, resolving escalated issues, maintaining compliance with safety, legal, and regulatory requirements, and coordinating with IHG corporate resources and brand programs. The role also involves building relationships with local partners and the community to enhance the hotel’s reputation and business performance.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated hotel or hospitality leadership experience, including oversight of multi-department operations and team management.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and P&L management.
- Proven skills in guest service, conflict resolution, and maintaining high satisfaction scores.
- Experience with sales, marketing, and revenue management strategies in a hotel or related environment.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and regulatory compliance standards relevant to hotel operations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
- Ability to make data-informed decisions, prioritize multiple demands, and adapt to changing business needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Previous experience in branded, full-service or upscale hotels; IHG brand experience is an asset.
- Eligibility to work in Canada and availability for flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays as needed.
