Graham is actively recruiting for a Design Manager to join our Buildings Division. Reporting to the Senior Design Manager, the Design Manager will play a pivotal role in the pre-construction process, managing risk, guiding design strategy, and overseeing consultant teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Your Role in Building What Matters – From Office to Site
- Lead end-to-end design management (from inception through execution), ensuring quality, timely deliverables, and compliance with design policies, procedures, and industry standards
- Drive risk management and design coordination, including area checks/layout optimization, gross-up factor reviews, and clash-detection to reduce rework
- Manage and mentor consultants and internal teams to hit milestones, align scope, and deliver cost-effective, fit-for-purpose solutions
- Provide technical leadership and decision support to Pre-Construction/Project leadership, including ESDC (Engineering Services During Construction) oversight during execution
- Communicate contract variances and budget impacts, and ensure alignment between design intent, scope, and project controls
The Right Tools for the Job
- Education: Degree in Engineering or Architecture; LEED, PMP, and P.Eng designations considered assets
- Experience: 10+ years of Security / Defense Experience and Design‑Build leadership with awareness of secure or defense project requirements, ideally with CPP or PSP certification
- Skills: Proven success with Design-Build delivery; knowledge of Lean or IPD projects is an asset. Proficient with MS Office and BIM tools, including strong working knowledge of Navisworks (3D/4D) and Revit (data extraction, model analysis)
