- Write and edit compelling content, including news releases, opinion pieces, speeches, presentations, member communications and digital content.

- Identify opportunities to position GGC and its members in important public policy discussions in Ottawa’s political ecosystem.
- Translate complex policy, regulatory and industry issues into clear and persuasive communications.
- Manage newsletters and member updates that keep members informed and engaged.
- Track communications performance and use analytics to improve reach and impact.
- Work closely with colleagues, particularly the Manager of Policy, on advocacy campaigns, Hill Days and other initiatives.
What we’re looking for
You are an excellent writer and strategic public affairs thinker who understands that effective communications is about more than producing content - it’s about knowing what to say, who needs to hear it and how best to reach them.
As GGC’s communications lead, you will provide strategic advice, manage external communications and ensure consistent messaging across our platforms.
Ideally, you bring:
- 5+ years of communications, public affairs, media relations or related experience.
- Exceptional writing, editing and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with an industry association, government, public affairs agency, consultancy or similarly fast-paced environment.
- A solid grasp of Canadian public policy and the federal political environment.
- Strong digital and social media skills, including managing organizational channels and websites.
- Sound judgment and the ability to respond quickly to emerging issues.
- Collaborative, positive and practical in working with colleagues and GGC members.
- Experience with media relations, graphic design, photography/video, email marketing and content-management platforms is an asset. French-language capability is also an asset.
Why join us?
You’ll join a small, collaborative team where your work will be highly visible and you’ll have the opportunity to directly influence how an important Canadian industry communicates with government, media, members and the broader public.
