Position Summary: Under the general direction of the Chef de Cuisine, this individual is responsible for the cleanliness of all kitchen areas, culinary equipment, and utensils as this is paramount when ensuring our patrons receive the ultimate culinary GEM experience. This individual ensures adherence to the Company’s policies and procedures, motivates and leads by example and supports Great Canadian’s learning environment while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members.
Key Accountabilities:
• Organizing, rinsing, spraying and loading dishes/cutlery into dishwasher or washing by hand as required
• Checking completed load for cleanliness and re-washing if necessary
• Reporting any malfunctions, breakage or discrepancies to the supervisor
• Storing all clean items in the appropriate area
• Sorting and removing garbage and recycling
• Cleaning all general kitchen areas including floors, counters and workspaces
• Assisting with the receipt of goods into the work area and stocking shelves
• Preparing some food products as requested
• Liaising and communicating effectively with all appropriate operational departments
• Developing and cultivating strong working relationships with all stakeholders (guests, ownership and employees)
• Ensuring compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Qualification Requirements:
• Available to work up to 40 hours per week in a variety of shifts including evenings, graveyards and weekends as we operate 24 hours per day, seven days a week
• High School Diploma
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal departments through timely, effective and service oriented communication

Work Environment Considerations: Regular kitchen environment; standing and walking for long periods of time; major exposure to heat, cold, steam, noise, odors; lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stretching, bending; some exposure to fumes, smoke, chemicals; risk of minor cuts and burns, non-traditional work hours.
