Location & Work Arrangement:
This is an on-site position based in the Greater Miramichi region. Regular in-person presence across the region is required. This role is not hybrid or remote.
About the Job:
Reporting to the Director of Regional Economic Development, the Growth Officer will develop and deliver projects that help make Greater Miramichi a stronger place to live, work, invest and belong.
Working across urban and rural communities, you will help turn regional opportunities and challenges into action by bringing partners together, developing projects, and coordinating implementation. Projects may address housing, healthcare, transportation, connectivity, childcare, recreation, workforce, investment readiness, and other factors that influence regional growth and quality of life.
You will also help make regional information more accessible by analyzing data and translating it into useful presentations, workshops, briefings, resources, and awareness initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage regional projects from initial concept through implementation.
- Bring municipalities, communities, businesses, government, and other partners together to identify solutions and move projects forward.
- Research regional challenges and opportunities and use data to support project development and decision-making.
- Develop and deliver presentations, workshops, stakeholder briefings, and community engagement sessions.
- Create accessible information and resources about regional opportunities, services, programs, careers, and community assets.
- Support development and investment-readiness projects, including property visibility, infrastructure and community assets.
- Represent GMSC with community, government, and regional partners.
About you:
- 2+ years' experience in project development, economic or community development, program delivery or a related field.
- Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to move ideas into action.
- Strong relationship-building and facilitation skills, with experience working across multiple organizations or partners.
- Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to turn data and complex information into clear, useful information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentations, workshops, or public engagement.
- Self-starter who can manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Post-secondary education in business, economic or community development, public administration, planning, project management, or related field.
- Experience working with rural communities and regional partnerships is an asset.
- Bilingualism (French/English) is considered a strong asset.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel throughout the region, with occasional evening commitments.
