Position Overview
Green Bridge is seeking an experienced intermediate accountant to senior accountant looking to hone their skills and prove themselves. This role is perfect for someone highly organized to assist and lead in the successful delivery of financial responsibilities and special projects. Our work spans general contracting, interior and exterior building improvements, mechanical and electrical coordination, lighting, EV charging infrastructure, and other building services.
This role will take ownership of day-to-day accounting functions, assist with financial reporting and month end accounting close, and support project-based accounting and finance work for the company. The role serves as the primary link between junior and intermediate level accounting staff and senior management.
We're looking for someone to work as part of a dynamic team and have close interaction with leadership to maintain accurate financial records, track project costs, and contribute to financial planning as we continue to grow.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Transaction Execution- Take ownership of day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit cards, intercompany transactions, banking, and treasury-related activities.
- Prepare, review, and record journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, allocations, and other complex accounting transactions.
- Maintain accurate and complete financial records, ensuring transactions are properly classified, supported, and recorded on a timely basis.
- Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, assist other staff with credit cards and intercompany reconciliations, maintain general ledger accounts and other financial records.
- Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies, outstanding balances, and reconciliation issues proactively.
- Support effective cash management by posting receipts and payments, monitoring cash balances, and short-term liquidity needs.
Financial Reporting & Period-End Close- Take responsibility for month-end and year-end processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely execution.
- Assist in preparing financial statements, supporting schedules, and internal management reports.
- Assist in maintaining and reviewing general ledger balances, reconciliations, accruals, and adjusting entries to ensure financial information is accurate and reliable.
- Investigate unusual transactions, account fluctuations, and reporting discrepancies, recommending fixes where required.
- Support the preparation of financial information and documentation required for external accountants, annual reviews, and tax filings.
- Maintain organized working papers and supporting documentation.
Project Accounting & Job Cost Management- Track, reconcile, and report on project costs, including labour, materials, subcontractors, and other project expenditures.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure costs are accurately allocated to the appropriate projects and cost categories.
- Prepare and review project-related accruals, adjustments, and other accounting entries.
- Support project managers as they prepare project budgets, cost reports, and profitability assessments.
- Identify discrepancies, unrecorded costs, and potential reporting issues.
- Provide timely and accurate financial information to support ad hoc project work, as requested.
Cash Flow & Financial Analysis- Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Investigate significant variances and provide explanations and recommendations to management.
- Prepare and maintain cash flow tracking tools to support financial planning.
- Support management with financial analysis and information required for business decisions.
Systems, Controls & Process Improvement- Support the implementation, integration, and ongoing improvement of accounting and business management systems.
- Assist with system adoption, application integration, and reconciliation of information across platforms.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, reporting accuracy, efficiency.
- Ensure accounting activities comply with company policies, established procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Proactively identify recurring issues, process gaps, and opportunities for automation or improved reporting.
Collaboration & Communication- Work closely with Project Managers, operations teams, and management to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
- Communicate accounting requirements, outstanding items, and reporting deadlines clearly and professionally.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, accountants, and others as required.
- Manage multiple responsibilities and competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy, accountability, and responsiveness.

QualificationsEducation & Professional Experience- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Active progress toward obtaining a CPA designation preferred.
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on involvement in various aspects of accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.
- Experience with project- and job- accounting, or construction-related financial reporting an asset.
Technical & Accounting Skills- Strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, accruals, and general ledger.
- Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP Business One, Sage, Stripe, Procore, or similar applications).
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, financial analysis, data reconciliation, and reporting.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and other business productivity applications.
- Ability to prepare financial statements, analyze financial results, support forecasting, and perform transactional accounting.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and commitment to maintaining accurate and complete records.
