Position Overview
Greenland Recreational After School Program (GRASP) is seeking an experienced, confident and dependable Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) to join our team in a senior lead role with possibility of advancement.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will provide day-to-day leadership and support to staff while helping ensure the safe, effective and high-quality operation of our licensed school-age child care program.
We are looking for an experienced RECE who demonstrates strong leadership, sound judgment, initiative, professionalism and the ability to support a team in a busy environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, guidance and day-to-day support to RECEs, staff, students and volunteers.
- Support the Executive Director with daily centre operations and regulatory compliance.
- Help ensure staff-to-child ratios, supervision requirements and health and safety procedures are consistently maintained.
- Support program planning and implementation in accordance with How Does Learning Happen?, ELECT, AQI and GRASP's Program Statement.
- Monitor program environments and provide staff with constructive feedback and support.
- Assist with staff orientation, mentoring, training and ongoing professional development.
- Ensure required documentation, child files, emergency information, incident reports and operational records are accurate and up to date.
- Support compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), Toronto Children’s Services requirements, Public Health requirements and GRASP policies and procedures.
- Support Serious Occurrence procedures and licensing requirements as necessary.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with children, families, staff, school personnel and community partners.
- Respond appropriately to parent questions and concerns and communicate significant matters to the Executive Director.
- Assist with registration, intake, centre tours, supplies, program planning and other administrative responsibilities.
- Provide leadership and operational support when the Executive Director is unavailable.
- Perform other leadership and operational duties as required to support the needs of the centre.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education or recognized equivalent.
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
- Demonstrated experience working in a licensed child care environment.
- Previous leadership, senior RECE or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of the CCEYA, How Does Learning Happen?, ELECT and AQI.
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR-C.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and support staff while maintaining professional accountability.
- Dependable, flexible and able to take initiative in a fast-paced school-age environment.
The ideal candidate is an experienced RECE who is ready to take on a meaningful leadership role. You should be comfortable making day-to-day decisions, supporting staff, communicating with families, maintaining regulatory requirements and working collaboratively with the Executive Director.
