Sales Engineer
AMZ Prep is a fast-growing 3PL and fulfillment company built for brands that need speed, flexibility and a logistics partner that can scale with them. We move quickly, use data to make decisions and expect our team to take ownership rather than wait to be told what to do. We are looking for a Sales Engineer who will own the technical and commercial design of our customer solutions. This role sits directly between Sales, Operations, Finance and our warehouse network. You will take the prospect’s shipping and fulfillment requirements and turn them into a solution we can deliver, at a price that makes sense for both the customer and AMZ Prep.
You will own pricing requests from intake through quote, analyze parcel, freight and fulfillment costs, determine the right warehouse and carrier solution, and help ensure that what we sell can be implemented. This isn’t just about building quotes. We’re looking for someone who can use data, challenge assumptions, improve how we operate and help move the business forward.
Our core values, guide how we work:
Win Relentlessly.
We’re competitive, driven and always looking for a better way. We set the bar high and push ourselves to deliver results.
Own the Outcome.
We take responsibility from start to finish. If there’s a problem, we don’t pass it along - we figure it out and get it done.
Be Humbly Confident.
We know what we bring to the table, but we’re always willing to listen, learn and challenge our own thinking.
Obsess Over Data.
We don’t make decisions based on assumptions. We use the numbers, understand what they’re telling us and use them to make better decisions.
We’re building a high-performance, hospitality-driven service culture centred around responsiveness, ownership, empathy, accountability and proactive communication.
What You’ll Own
Pricing & Deal Design
- Own pricing requests from intake through final quote, with a focus on same-day or next-day turnaround. Build accurate, margin-aware pricing and cost proposals based on actual operational capability.
- Develop custom rate cards and pricing models for new and existing customers.
- Ensure pricing below established margin thresholds is approved before being presented to the customer.
- Maintain the pricing request tracker and provide regular reporting on volume, turnaround times, pipeline and outcomes.
- Support RFPs and more complex customer proposals.
- Parcel, Freight & Fulfillment Analysis
- Complete parcel, freight, fulfillment and middle-mile analysis to determine cost and feasibility before quoting.
- Review customer shipping profiles, order volumes, geographic distribution, service levels and operational requirements.
- Analyze carrier and warehouse costs and identify opportunities to improve pricing and margin.
- Complete profitability analysis by account and identify areas where existing business can be improved.
- Use data to support recommendations rather than assumptions.
- Solution & Site Selection
- Scope new opportunities and determine the best warehouse/site based on capability, location, performance and economics.
- Design the appropriate fulfillment network, including warehouse locations, carriers, middle-mile requirements and cold-chain requirements where applicable.
- Confirm that the proposed warehouse and network can support what Sales is committing to the customer.
- Identify go/no-go risks early, including integrations, technology, SFP, Vendor Central, cold chain, capacity, timing and operational complexity.
- Partner with Operations and Network leadership on complex deals and RFPs.
- Warehouse & Carrier Sourcing
- Source and evaluate existing and potential warehouse partners to support new customer opportunities.
- Negotiate warehouse and carrier pricing with a focus on both capability and margin.
- Support the onboarding of new warehouse and carrier partners.
- Compare partner performance, pricing and capabilities when determining the best solution for an account.
Sales to Operations Handoff
- Own the flow of information from Sales into Operations once a deal is won.
- Ensure scope, pricing, customer expectations and operational requirements are clearly documented before implementation.
- Stay involved through the first 30, 60 and 90 days to confirm that what was sold is what is being delivered.
- Identify gaps between the original scope and actual customer requirements before they become operational or billing issues.
- Help ensure the customer understands the agreed pricing structure and that invoice aligns with the signed proposal.
Sales Support
- Give the Sales team the pricing tools, rate cards and capability information they need to sell effectively.
- Join customer calls when technical, operational or pricing expertise is required.
- Help Sales understand what we can and cannot deliver rather than building solutions around unrealistic customer expectations.
- Provide visibility into pricing activity, outstanding requests and deal status.
- Data, Reporting & Business Improvement
- Own key pricing and deal-flow metrics for weekly reporting and L10 meetings.
- Use data to identify trends in pricing, margin, warehouse performance and customer profitability.
- Identify gaps or inefficiencies in current processes and recommend improvements.
- Spearhead new initiatives that improve how Sales, Operations and Finance work together.
- Test and help implement new software, tools and technology that improve pricing, analysis, reporting and overall workflow.
- Look beyond the immediate task and continually identify ways AMZ Prep can operate more efficiently, improve margin and scale.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in 3PL, fulfillment, transportation, parcel, freight, warehousing or logistics.
- Strong understanding of logistics pricing and the cost drivers behind fulfillment and transportation.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with large amounts of operational and pricing data.
- Comfortable building pricing models, rate cards, cost analyses and customer proposals.
- Commercial mindset - understands both customer needs and the importance of protecting margin.
- Able to challenge Sales, Operations or a customer when the numbers or proposed solution don’t make sens
- Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills; experience with BI, pricing or logistics technology is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills and comfortable working directly with customers, sales representatives, warehouse partners and senior leadership.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple pricing requests and opportunities at the same time.
- Someone who takes ownership moves quickly and doesn’t need to be told what to do next.
What Success Looks Like
- Pricing requests are accurate and turn around quickly.
- Sales have confidence in the solutions being presented to customers.
- Operations receive clean, complete deals that can actually be implemented.
- Warehouse and carrier decisions are based on capability, performance and margin.
- What we quote matches what we ultimately deliver and invoice.
- Account profitability is visible and improving.
- Problems are identified before they become customer issues.
- New tools, processes and ideas are continuously improving how AMZ Prep operates.
- Ultimately, this role owns the space between “we can sell it” and “we can actually deliver it profitably.”
