Job Summary
The Operations Support Coordinator provides analytical, reporting, contract administration, and program coordination support for Wastewater System Performance initiatives. The position coordinates collection system investigation and inflow and infiltration (I/I) reduction programs, supports the delivery of household drainage survey initiatives, manages consultant contracts, and maintains performance reporting and compliance activities to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement of the wastewater system.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides analytical, administrative, and program coordination support for wastewater system performance initiatives.
- Coordinates consultant-led collection system investigations and inflow and infiltration (I/I) reduction programs, including smoke testing, drone surveys, wet weather CCTV inspections, household drainage surveys, and related condition assessment activities.
- Administers the technical components of the Household Drainage Survey Program, including coordinating or conducting inspections, reviewing investigation findings, identifying improper stormwater connections to the wastewater system, documenting recommended corrective measures, and maintaining program records.
- Provides technical support and subject matter expertise for non-standard customer inquiries and escalated issues related to household drainage surveys, collection system investigations, inflow and infiltration reduction initiatives, and wastewater system performance programs.
- Supports procurement, contract administration, budget tracking, schedule monitoring, and consultant deliverable reviews.
- Collects, validates, analyzes, and maintains operational, maintenance, and investigation data from corporate systems and consultant studies.
- Maintains key performance indicator (KPI) reporting processes and prepares operational, compliance, benchmarking, annual summary, and management reports.
- Identifies trends, anomalies, and data quality issues to support operational and business decision-making.
- Participates in audits, inspections, regulatory reporting, and performance management activities, as required.
- Maintains program records, databases, reporting systems, and supporting documentation.
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders to support reporting requirements, data quality initiatives, system performance assessments, and strategic planning activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential
The successful candidate will possess a degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Technology, Data Analytics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science, or a related discipline, together with a minimum of two (2) years of related experience in municipal water or wastewater services, engineering, environmental services, infrastructure performance programs, or data analysis.
The successful candidate will also demonstrate:
- Experience coordinating projects, consultant assignments, field investigations, or operational initiatives.
- Experience collecting, validating, analyzing, and reporting operational or performance data.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and stakeholder relationship skills.
- Excellent customer service, report writing, presentation, and computer skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, macros, data visualization, and analytical tools to manage large datasets, identify trends and support wastewater system performance reporting.
- Experience working with systems such as SCADA, SAP, LIMS, GIS and other operational databases.
Assets
- Experience with inflow and infiltration (I/I) investigations, smoke testing, drone surveys, wet weather CCTV inspections, household drainage surveys, private property inspection programs, or wastewater collection systems.
- Experience coordinating consultant-delivered field programs and preparing operational or performance reports.
- Experience with KPI reporting, business intelligence tools, and performance management systems.
- Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI, Python, R, or SQL
- Professional designations such as CAP, CBIP, CET, PMP, or equivalent.
- NASSCO PACP®, MACP®, and LACP® certified with experience reviewing and evaluating CCTV inspections of sewers, laterals, and manholes to identify defects, infiltration sources, and rehabilitation priorities.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
