As a Junior Estimator / Quantity Surveyor one of your primary roles will be producing material takeoffs for civil, architectural and structural drawings, contacting subtrades and suppliers for material pricing. Experience in electrical or mechanical estimating is considered an asset.
Hanscomb Limited specializes in cost planning, estimating and control services, scheduling, loan monitoring, value management, construction cost monitoring for large and small projects across Canada. Our Atlantic operation has immediate opportunities for a Junior Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to be a part of its expanding office.
One to two years experience in construction estimating, material takeoffs and reading construction drawings is required. Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) or Construction Estimator Certified (CEC) designations with CIQS or working toward achieving their PQS is recommended but not required. Preference will be given to applicants who reside in Nova Scotia or the other Atlantic Provinces (NB, PE, NL).
Ideal candidates will be graduates from Construction Project Management (previously CMT) at NSCC or a similar program which focuses on construction estimating, construction cost control, construction technology and materials & practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams etc. and familiar with estimating software (such as OST), ability to multitask several projects, commitments to meeting deadlines and attention to detail and numbers. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently.
