ROLE OVERVIEW: Estimating Project Coordinator
The Estimating Project Coordinator will support an expanding perforated-metal business in Burlington, Ontario, preparing manufacturing estimates and coordinating customer projects from quotation through production and delivery. Reporting to the National Sales Manager, Perforated, this newly created role works closely with the Chicago sales and estimating teams to translate RFQs and customer specifications into accurate estimates and bid packages. Most of the role focuses on estimating, with continued ownership of order coordination, project status and communication with customers and plant partners. The position will initially be based on site in Burlington.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Estimating Project Coordinator
- Review RFQs, drawings and specifications; clarify requirements and prepare estimates and bid packages for sales.
- Assess materials, labor and processing requirements to build accurate quotes and protect margins.
- Develop or refine application drawings as capabilities allow, coordinating with Chicago CAD support when needed.
- Track orders, ERP transactions, materials and WIP through production, shipment and delivery; expedite at-risk work.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Purchasing, Production, Quality and Shipping; communicate project status and approved changes.
- Follow outside services, quality requirements and RMAs/rework through resolution, capture cost changes and lessons for future quotes.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: Estimating Project Coordinator
- Approximately 1+ years of estimating and/or project-management experience in a manufacturing environment, including practical responsibility for quoting, project coordination, or production support.
- Ability to translate customer requirements into material, labor and processing estimates and clear job documentation.
- Experience coordinating manufacturing orders through delivery while managing competing priorities and resolving issues.
- Ability to interpret manufacturing drawings and specifications; practical CAD creation or editing experience is desired.
- Hands-on manufacturing ERP experience: Epicor or Oracle is advantageous, with SAP or other systems also relevant.
- Working knowledge of job planning, material availability, inventory control and shipping/receiving processes.
- Strong communication, organization, attention to detail and follow-through; proficiency in Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Perforated-metal, sheet-metal, fabrication or architectural-product experience is valuable; other manufacturing backgrounds considered.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent practical manufacturing experience.
