Your New Role
As an Electrical Engineer (P.Eng.), you will play a key role in the delivery of building systems projects across a diverse portfolio of public and private sector developments throughout Ontario. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technical professionals, you will be involved in the planning, design, coordination, and execution of electrical engineering solutions from concept through to construction.
Project exposure could include healthcare facilities, educational institutions, civic and municipal infrastructure, commercial developments, industrial buildings, and other complex building environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare electrical engineering designs for a variety of building projects, including power distribution, lighting, backup power, fire alarm, and related building systems.
- Develop technical drawings, calculations, specifications, and supporting project documentation.
- Coordinate designs with internal project teams, external consultants, architects, owners, and contractors.
- Conduct site visits, field reviews, and existing condition assessments as required.
- Support projects through design, tendering, construction, commissioning, and close-out phases.
- Review drawings, reports, and technical submissions to ensure alignment with applicable engineering standards and project requirements.
- Provide construction-phase support, including responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and assisting with contract administration activities.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable Ontario and Canadian codes, standards, and industry best practices.
- Assist with project scheduling, prioritization, and delivery of multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative engineering team environment.
What You'll Need to Succeed
Required Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario
- Minimum 5 years of electrical design experience on complex building projects
- Experience designing:
- Power distribution systems
- Lighting systems
- Emergency power systems
- Life safety systems
- Experience delivering institutional and healthcare projects
- Strong understanding of:
- Ontario Building Code (OBC)
- Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC)
- Canadian Electrical Code (CEC)
- CSA standards
- Experience managing design packages and project deliverables
- Strong project coordination and time management skills
Preferred Experience
- AutoCAD proficiency
- Revit MEP 3D experience
- Experience working within various project delivery models
- Previous experience leading projects and mentoring junior team members
- Exposure to healthcare, municipal, commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities
