About the Opportunity
Our client, a growing organization operating in a manufacturing and distribution environment, is seeking a Finance Business Partner to support leadership and operational teams in achieving strategic and financial objectives.
Reporting to the Finance team and working closely with business leaders, this individual will act as a trusted advisor to operations. The role focuses on translating financial and operational data into meaningful insights that drive profitability, efficiency, and informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Decision Support
- Evaluate business initiatives, investments, and growth opportunities.
- Develop financial models and profitability analyses to support strategic decisions.
- Assist operational leaders in preparing business cases and investment proposals.
- Identify performance improvement opportunities and recommend actionable solutions.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Lead and coordinate the annual budgeting process across multiple business functions.
- Consolidate budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Analyze variances between actual results and forecasts, providing recommendations to management.
- Develop reporting tools, dashboards, and performance metrics.
- Support ongoing forecasting activities through rolling forecasts and scenario planning.
Performance Management
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Present financial results and business insights to management teams.
- Facilitate monthly, quarterly, and annual performance review meetings.
- Help operational teams better understand financial performance and business drivers.
Costing and Profitability Analysis
- Contribute to the enhancement of costing methodologies and cost accounting processes.
- Analyze manufacturing variances related to materials, labor, overhead, and production activities.
- Ensure the integrity of financial and operational data used for decision-making.
- Partner with operational teams to identify cost-saving and margin improvement opportunities.
Inventory and Operations Support
- Support inventory management processes and controls.
- Participate in the development and continuous improvement of inventory counting procedures.
- Assist with periodic physical inventory counts and year-end inventory activities.
- Monitor inventory-related KPIs, including inventory accuracy, turnover, obsolescence, and adjustments.
Capital Investment Management
- Monitor capital expenditure initiatives and investment performance.
- Support the evaluation and prioritization of capital projects.
- Assist in establishing governance and approval processes for capital spending.
- Measure and track return on investment for significant expenditures.
Continuous Improvement and Business Transformation
- Identify opportunities to improve financial and operational processes.
- Participate in system enhancement and business transformation initiatives.
- Act as a key resource for finance-related process improvement projects.
- Promote data accuracy, automation, and operational efficiency across the business.
Organizational Growth and Integration
- Support the financial and operational integration of newly acquired businesses or business units.
- Assist in harmonizing processes and implementing best practices across the organization.
- Participate in various strategic growth and integration initiatives.
Governance and Compliance
- Ensure the reliability and accuracy of financial information.
- Support adherence to internal controls, policies, and governance processes.
- Participate in risk management and compliance-related initiatives.
Candidate Profile
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation considered an asset.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in finance, financial analysis, or business partnering roles.
- Experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting and profitability analysis.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Business-oriented mindset with a genuine interest in operational performance.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and business intelligence tools.
- Bilingualism in French and English.
