Original job description
Role and Facility Information
The Department of Medicine at Eagle Ridge Hospital (ERH) is recruiting two general internists skilled in the management of complex inpatients. Responsibilities will include a combination of clinical care, teaching, and quality improvement with the mix of responsibilities depending on the successful candidate’s background and job profile. Competitive candidates will possess outstanding clinical, communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills that enable them to work collaboratively with other physicians, learners, hospital staff and administrators.
Currently Eagle Ridge Hospital has an existing High Acuity Unit/Monitored Care Unit(MCU) which is fully staffed by 3 existing Internists.
The two new Internists hired will be involved in the development and running of a new inpatient 15 bed Internal Medicine unit(IMU) for medically complex patients. The internists will have MRP responsibilities for these patients. Coverage will be 7 days per week, responsibilities will be shared with the other full time Internist. On-call evening/overnight coverage provided by the MCU internist.
IMU internist will also staff the IM Rapid Access Clinic(RAC). All RAC overhead including office space and MOA covered by the hospital.
The fee model will be a mix of alternative payment plan (APP) and fee for service (FFS).
Separate hospitalist service will look after majority of other admitted medical inpatients, with excellent relationship between internists and hospitalists.
